A big part of this game is the character interactions. Harvest Moon pisses me off because the main character never fucking says anything. At least in Rune Factory we can actually see some dialogue go back and forth between two characters.
The farming is fun, albeit a bit shallow. The dungeon mechanics are neat but the combat is really fucking barebones, and you're a slave to your RP gauge for the majority of the time you'll be playing.
No matter how good these games are, there's always some mechanic that bogs down the experience. In Frontier (which was god-tier) you had to deal with Runeys, which was tedious as hell. In 4 (imo the best in the series) you had to deal with some really fucking annoying RNG late in the game. Oceans is probably the worst in the series so you can skip that if you want, butit has the BEST waifus in the series
Playing through frontier, can't decide between Turnip, Tsundere general store, Aristocratic book worm, or the two milf I can never have.

Going anywhere outside of your farm is a massive chore because you walk extremely slowly relative to how big the game area is and the speed that time passes at.
Rune Factory is like an ARPG with farming. SV is like a HM game but with some crappy combat tacked on.
