We know they met with AMD and Imagination for chip set pitches. AMD offers x86 and Radeon GPUs, they also hold an ARM license. Imagination offers MIPS [which is what PS1, PS2, and N64 used] and PowerVR [which is what a lot of iPads and iPhones use, as well as the Dreamcast].

Combat is boring shit just as the prequel. slightly improved but still rock bottom even when it comes to Jrpgs.
Mechs, while they had some fun handeling, were hampered by shitty (or non-existant in a lot of cases) collision detection. XCX is visually impressive, even if the engine makes it look like crap, the art direction was good enough to save it. But walking on it wasn't as fun as, say, Dargon'sDogma which has a boring generic world and yet has many memorable combat scenarios and little moments.
XCX failed to have a good story, characters I cared about, or good combat. It failed on all of its core tenents, everything else (the world, visually) is just a cherry on top
