What do, /v/?

i would never buy a unity game, so that will never happen
>>

You've probably bought and played a Unity game and you don't even know it.
>>
You're legitimately retarded if you think Unity is inherently bad.
>>
>>331666559
Kerbal Space Program, possibly the best game in years was made with Unity. Your argument is invalid.
>>
To be honest I hate UE4 games, not Unity. Yes, UE has better graphics, but most of the indy games made with it are rather unfinished, wonky, or just straight up shit.
>>
>Judging games by their engine.

This is a 18+ website.

His argument was that he'd never buy one. How the fuck do you know he'd buy Kerbal Shit Program?

Ask for a steam refund
>>
>>331666960
But that has nothing to do with the game engine, and everything to do with the game developer.

Does /v/ Like grow home?
>>
I lower my expectations
>>
>>331667810
Well yes, since Unity is just a platform. Disregarding the quality of the work simply for a meme, is pretty idiotic.
>>
>>331666260

start stuttering for real.
>>
>>331668551
I liked it but it was short.
>>
>>331667451
Care to explain why Unity is bad? No memes.
>>
>>331673159
It isn't bad, but undertale made /v/ hail gamemaker as the best engine there is.
>>
>>331668551
good, but it would have benefited greatly from some sort of endless mode
>>

Programmer who's worked with Unity before, Unity is super easy for uninvolved development. Backburner projects are great in Unity cause a lot of things are done with literals that are saved in the Unity scene, so theres way less data management. I'm more friendly with C++ than C# so I've been thinking about checking out Moai and possibly working on one of those mobile-games-that-can-pass-for-a-desktop-game games.

But GameMaker is really good if you're in your mid-20's with no comp sci experience and you wanna make a game. Granted, unless youtube videos do a good job at showing you how to make your game you're gonna get lost easily. GameMaker games made by non-programmers also have some tell-tale signs that they cared more about assets and story than gameplay and presentation.
>>
>>331666559

Unity has matured tremendously, albeit I do see your point.

It's relative simplicity ensures that so many self proclaimed "game developers" will keep churning out shit on it. But some quality games will be made.
>>
>>331673159
People just give unity shit because its one of those "basic" game engines along the line sof RPGmaker, gamemaker, or even flash. of course Unity can do much more than those but you get the point.

People that hate unity and shit talk it dont really know why they hate it in the first place. They just follow other mindless sheep who hate the engine as well.
>>
>>331673159
So many budding game devs are drawn to it, and subsequently think they can officially release any kind of shit. But good developers can still create good stuff on it.
