What's a fun-easy-to-get-into singleplayer PC game with decent graphics that isn't a first person shooter?
My insomniac dad needs to find something to keep his dead-tired mind entertained
>>331648498
Ori and the Blind Forest
offer him your ass
define "decent".
And what is he into?
Starsector?
Europa Universalis?
Mount & Blade?
Hitman?
sims 4
Stardew Valley
>>331648645
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think he'll really like puzzle/platformers in that state of mind
>>331648678
I need that for sitting down
>>331648720
He liked Mount and Blade. Decent is anything worth putting hours into for entertainment
>>331648781
>>331648812
Not up his alley
>>331648720
eu4 and mount and blade alone could occupy him for hundreds of hours, with mods thousands
>>331648925
Afraid he's already completely burnt out on M&B. Don't think he likes grand strat games at all
>>331649056
Starsector is basically M&B in space.
Skyrim maybe? It is first person, but not a shooter. It's also pretty easy to play at a casual level.
buy him terraria and play co-op with him. if this doesn't help him get him Darkest Dungeon, the suspense will take him away.
Kerbal Space Program?
Rebel Galaxy?
>>331648720
Woops, meant 'decent graphics' as in anything that isn't too outdated. As a reference he gets turned off by games that look worse than the first FEAR
>>331649114
Is that right? Thanks a lot
>>331649169
Also burnt out on Bethesda games, I'm rather sure he's still angry about fallout 4
>>331649207
2IndieRNG5him and he's played FTL/Sunless Sea which has too much of that going on I think
>>331649267
Likes games with rpg-elements too I think
>>331648498
It's gonna be weird presenting him the game but... Sengoku Rance
what about GTA 5?
>>331649387
pls
>>331649390
Played together already, game is pretty crap
dark messiah of might and magic
jedi knight outcast and academy
pillars of eternity
guild wars 1
>>331648498
Legend of Grimrock
We don't even know what kind of games your dad would enjoy.
>>331649618
Keep em coming, We''ll sift through and see which ones he can give a shot
>>331649632
That's the point, he's not entirely sure what he likes either, just what he dislikes. All up for any kind of suggestions
>>331648498
The Witcher games.
Rebel Galaxy. Nice simple space sim with sailing ship combat.
>>331650018
played all 3 of them, was obsessed with the card game in the third one at one point
>>331650058
already recommended
orcs must die 2 (better with co-op)
strike suit zero
LotR war in the north (better with co-op, also has LAN for pirating)
total war games
gnomoria
souls games
STALKER games
sins of a solar empire
ys oath in felghana
>>331649618
>GW 1
Are there even still people playing that?
>>331648498
gothic 1 and 2 motherfucker. get some patches, system pack and dx11 installed, he'll love it
+ for german voice
Skyrim on PC
Teach him how to mod
Give him a link to loverslab
This will keep him busy until his deathbed
>>331650884
sort of, but at this point it's a great singleplayer game where you get to design a team of 8 people with 10 classes and hundreds of skills
>>331648720
Not only is M&B garbage, but it doesn't have "decent graphics".
>>331651012
you can stop now
>>331648498
Dragon's Dogma
modern strategy/4x games look good.
Dragon Age inquisition isn't god awful
I hear witcher 3 isn't awful
monster girl quest 1-3
>>331651012
>>331650976
> dx11 installed
Did you actually play them that way?
Because the dx11 renderer in G1 completely shits itself in the orcland and the one in G2 has a ton of issues as well.
Something relaxing, uncompetitive and not too challenging. Trust me, insomnia seriously messes up your mood and really reduces your cognitive capabilities. Games with even a modicum of difficulty will lead to frustration. You want to take your mind off things, not get a damn heart attack.
I'd suggest Skyrim with mods, but since your dad is burned out on Beth games I can't really think of anything to recommend.
>>331648498
Whatever that game in the picture is.
>>331651004
Hell, it was practically a single player game since the release of Nightfall. They introduced heroes because they were struggling to keep it alive.
But yeah, it's a good suggestion. People don't normally think single player when they see an online game, but it really is a good single player game.
>>331652631
it wasn't too bad until
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Feedback:Game_updates/20110303
the day guild wars became a single player game
>>331650480
>>331650976
>>331651279
>>331651504
Thanks for all the suggestions guys
>>331652395
all this skyrim talk is going to give him cancer
>>331652434
That's my modded skyrim
>>331653096
Yeah, that was the big day. Was a long time coming though; before then most people would just fill the rest of their party with henchmen. So honestly it really helped enable what people had already been doing for years. At any rate, good to see someone else who knows about its single-player appeal.
>>331653381
Damn, did not know Skyrim could be made to look so good. What mods are you using?
>>331651000
LoversLab furthers rape culture, misogyny, sexist attitudes and gender inequality. While it is the case that its direct influence is contained to a small number of individuals, and its content not universally sexist and extreme, it is a definite part of the problem that can only harm greater societal progress, as well as individual member's own social competence, respect, desirability and female perception.
>>331653795
Fuck off and shoot yourself, faggot.
>>331653529http://www.modwat.ch/#/u/sheepy
don't expect to just slap install everything for it to work
>>331654680
Thanks. Yeah, I'm fine with putting some effort in. I'll take some time messing around with these when I'm in the mood for some Skyrim.
>>331649505
Rance guy here.
What? It's challenging enough. Has a cool nonlinear story. It's turn based and pretty chill, which I believe is important because he must be pretty groggy from the lack of sleep. And it's a genuine good game.
It mostly depends on your relationship to your father and how old you are. (if you're under 25 it's probably very awkward)
