Why Miyazaki considers this the 'good' ending for Solaire?
Probably because the alternative is him going insane and eventually hollow

Armor is only armor. The guy has like 50 Faith and insane amounts of DEX/STR.
The sword is basically a standard longsword with a fancy name, nothing more.
His shield is just a metal round shield, with a symbol of the Sun on it, that he painted himself.
The talsiman was also made by him, but he believed in his purpose and the Sun so faithfully it didn't matter.
Solaire was an idiot. But he was an awfully strong idiot.

I don't even get ANYTHING from DaSII story or lore, but I think it was centered around that concept and thats why everything felt so inconsistent aside from the DLC areas.

Haven't played the DLC yet, played DaS on ps3 back then. I'm actually working towards it right now though
Thing is, this is a time portal, while in DaSII world you have things that are simply explained with "weeeeell time is convoluted you know", like the old dragonslayer being there, or the world itself not making any sense (windmill under volcano)
