Most puzzle games and a few strategy games where units can die. I had some for 999 too. I had some for maps in old adventure games at one point but I think they're gone now.

I mean, now you can just look at a phone or laptop if you need to look things up, but back in the early 2000's and late 90's back when most of us only had one family computer, you'd have to write notes to take back to your console or write them down as you play if you didn't have a guidebook or something. Notes is quite common. You fuckers should try playing an adventure book game, good luck doing that without a map you make.
The last time I took notes while playing a game was when me and my Dad played Myst and Riven when I was like 5.
