Even his newer stuff is still pretty good imo. Big Rigs was great. Actually, Seaman was good too thinking back.
NES Accessories is still his absolute best, but my personal favorites are stuff like the DoubleVision Special, Atari 5200, etc. - I always loved seeing the passion shine through when he got to bust out the older, more obscure stuff and give the history behind them, not just poop on it.
To this day I still can't believe the mechanical failure of ergonomic design that is the Atari 5200 holy shit

Old stuff is still good, I'm letting them rest in my mental time capsule though so I marathon them again some day and relive the good times.
Im 21, I started gaming on the PS1, AVGN was the person that was able to make me appreciate retro games. His passion and love for old games shined through and showed me the lens you need to view in to enjoy these games. And I am always thankful for his series for that, if nothing else.

This. So fucking comfortable. There is nothing quite like the early shit. The first 50 or so.
The early stuff of his is a good mix of comical and informative. It's really enjoyable watching him make fun of something for a bit but then go into a little mini history lesson on the games, systems, controllers/accessories, companies and everything else with a sort of charming passion that really draws you in. His love for film and the dressing up for holidays/themes is pretty cool and also adds to the mood.
Plus his nerd room is comfy as hell and I'd love to have something like it.
James did some cool stuff. Dunno where he's at now. I make an effort to not pay attention at this point.
