Those are the main benefits. 32 and 64 GB microSD cards are cheap nowadays. I have a 32 and have 7 pages of games. You don't even need to do A9LH if you don't want to, but I recommend it if you want fast boot rates and 100% successful boot rates. Plus, you can recover from a brick without a hardmod.

Downgrading right now is as safe as can be since 10.7 is exploitable, and you won't hardbrick unless you do something really retarded like download the wrong update files for your DS. I've only payed for 2 3DS games, and I now play my 3DA far more than in my 2 years without CFW due to free games

Even if you aren't pirating, CFW on a N3DS is worth it. You've got un-dubs, translation patches, you can import games without buying a Japanese system, you get better performance in emulators... and you've got homebrew like DOOM and shit.
