As someone who's very quick to call something popular with secondaries cancer, I actually think that Bad Apple!! is a very catchy remix, the video that's associated with it is very visually appealing and instantly recognizable, and the when viewed within a vacuum, it's a nice way of introducing someone to the concept of Touhou.
That said, the culture that surrounds the video is awful, I will agree with that, and overall it was probably a bad thing for the Touhou fanbasethat said, it's very possible that none of us would be fans of Touhou if Bad Apple!! had never gotten so big.
