Will Gears 4 be as good as it's predecessors?
It might be the only game I am interested in for Xbox One.
I wish /v/ liked Gears of War ;_;
I've never really understood what's so popular about Gears. I've played 1-3, and I found them to be amazingly dull, with underpowered weapons and boring enemies. Okay, the chainsaw was fun to use the first three times.

Gears of War has gotten progressively worse since the first game came out. That said, from what I've seen of the new game, it looks like they're trying to get back to the first game, which is good. Who knows if it'll be any good, I'm not going to buy an xbone for it though.

I find the first three games to be the best third person shooters of all time. To me they perfected the fun appeal a third person shooter can be. They are basically an example of the genre perfected pretty much.
I completely disagree with you on the weapons. The weapons are very powerful feeling. Especially the power weapons. The chainsaw is fun but could have been better with more executions for it.
Honestly I feel the only reason /v/ doesn't really like the series much is because it is Xbox/Microsoft exclusive series. Which I can understand to some extent.

The mechanics got better. The guns got more useful. 3 may have went a bit too overboard on powering up the rifles but I still feel it has the best gameplay of the three. Gears 2 still has best horde mode though. Beast mode was trash btw.

Literally the multiplayer. The reason why 80% of the people get it is because of the multiplayer. It's competitive like a fighting game because like in a fighting game, when you get outplayed in gears of war you get outplayed

This is true. The single players have all been good fun though. They also have a good survival mode. Horde is great fun. Considering the state of most online shooters now it is good Gears is a much more hardcore shooter to play online. Those great solid mechanics only help to make it that much better.

I actually dropped the series after 3, but I'd buy a port / remake of 2 for the PC as long as it wasn't a steaming pile of shit like the current release of Ultimate.

I was going to buy it when I heard it was coming, but as soon as I learned the rest I passed on it. Sad thing is, Microsoft being Microsoft will take low sales as no interest in the game, instead of no interest in their faggotry.

Literally nothing has matched the experience of winning a 1v1 after each persons teams died, pulling out your pistol, and beating their face in or ripping their arm off and bashing them for 20 seconds in front of the whole lobby.

Regen health is fair as long as the surrounding mechanics make it fair. Which Gears does.
Gears would be awful without regenerating health. Faster pace games have definitely benefited from this mechanic.

Thought about buying ultimate, especially since it gives early access to 4.
The reviews on metacritic are pretty bad and apparently the game has to be installed on your boot drive.

It's a lot like Pokemon implementing some new shit into a game then taking it back out in the next installment.
All they did was pretty up the graphics, could've at least put in modes they had in earlier titles.

I do love the multiplayer, used to play wingman back when it first came out. Never even bothered with the story although I'm kind of interested.
