Every new zone (besides the last one) has a mixture of MSQ currents and sidequest currents.
Recall that in West Coerthas you get one for doing the sidequest that opens Dusk Vigil. In Tailfeather the huntmaster dude and Vath offer sidequests that give currents. In Churning Mists there's a few moogle quests that give some, and in Hinterlands you get at least one from Saro Roggo.
The final zone is the only different one; in that each MSQ gives you one current of six, granting you flight just in time for the big finale.

On my servers there's linkshells for people wanting to do older content and Party Finders for stuff like Coil still fill up eventually.
You're gonna have to be patient though, and I have a feeling you won't be able to clear T9 without going unsynced or being carried. There's just way too much shit to learn for any group to bother tutoring you until you can do it yourself, unless you luck out and find 7 people who also want to clear it synced.
Of course, if you just want to clear things without effort, you can put up an unsynced Party Finder for any ARR content and say you have a bonus and you'll get a party right away.

Yeah, the fetch quests in the MSQs are fine when presented in a way that makes sense- early in Heavensward while you do have a reputation at the same time you're a relative nobody within the social structure of Ishgard, so you have to do shit that's way below your pay grade in order to get them to like you. It's only really ridiculous in the later 2.0 MSQs where you're already a fucking legend and yet people make you do bitch work. They eventually got smart and cut that shit out later on in the 2.0 patches, or at least presented them in ways that actually made sense (doing a favor for a friend, part of an investigation, etc etc.)
And the fetch quest side quests are totally fine, of course, since they're completely optional- you're going out of your way to do extra work for people.

Don't cast Hot Shot and Lead Shot with ammo, blow them first out of Gauss Barrel, slap it on, and then do your rotation.
You can save yourself some headache by making 2 macros for your turrets. One that spawns the Rook next to you and one that spawns the Bishop on mobs.
Wildfire is the meat and potatoes of your burst damage. Go find a lv.1 dummy and train up your muscle memory on a proper rotation for it. I say a lv1 so you aren't tempted to use Heartbreak, the damage scales exactly the same otherwise.
