You can use exploits to get the entire 3ds library for free.

Get the 2ds. It looks weird but it fits really good into both hands and you can easily reach the shoulder buttons.
It's also cheaper
I got this bad boy for $100 years ago and haven't regretted it, it's comfy as fuck and the screen looks incredibly sharp and crystal clear, don't let the size fool you, the GBA games' resolution fit the micro screen perfectly anyway, has better pixel density than the regular GBA or the SP.
Beware it doesn't run OG GB or GBC games though.

For $40 I wouldn't be surprised if they were bootlegs anyway. Genuine gen III Pokemon games are overpriced as hell.
