What went wrong?
An interesting concept that ended up being a very boring game. Not a bad game, just boring.
>>331319452
the game was also bad and the writing was terrible
>Alright "Insert Author Name Here" hands up!
>>331319259
Microsoft. Literally.
>>331320019
How are they to blame? Remedy are third party, if they didn't like what M$ wanted they could've easily quitted/moved on after the game instead of making QB.
repeated enemies
the gameplay
unfulfilling story

Microsoft turned it from an open-world mistery with day/night cycles (that E3 video nostalgia, holy shit) to a corridor thir person shooter.
It wasn't terrible, but it could have been better.

Microsoft

Sam Lake begs to differ. He said it couldn't run it, and it was changed because of hardware restrictions. Remember Alan Wake didn't even run at 720p. Link related.

They started it as a open world game then turned it into a corridor shooter.

Hardware restrictions that came when it was forced to be 360 exclusive by Microsoft.
Originally it was PC only and a flagship for the multicore processors.
And of course Sam Lake is not dumb enough to attacks the mouth that feeds them since MS is funding Quantum break now.
It had loads of flaws, but I still really liked it.
Main problem was lack of enemy variety. You can't expect me to be scared of enemies I've seen for the last 5 hours. Thing is the setting of spooky woods gives loads of opportunities for cool enemies or just shit to be paranoid at, like some possessed wolves or something.
Special episodes were a real step up in quality, tapped into the best parts of the main game. Then American Nightmare sucked.
It was a 10 hour game padded out to a 20 hour one.

I really enjoyed the game but
>poorly optimized port
>guns feel limp
>no enemy variety
>not spooky enough
Still a great game

What? It ran perfectly.
>>331319913
This shit. This shit was awful. Such an awful, grating fucking character.
>>331322901
Mate you must be pretty fucking garbage if it took you 20 hours to complete Alan Wake.
One of the best games ever, played on PC never encountered any problem.
>>331319259
The combat is a chore
>>331323964
24 actually. I like to take my time with games like this. I looked for all the secret missing pages and shit.
Sam Lake, Remedy Game. All Remedy Game are good game. Make sure you pre-order Quantum Break Exclusively on Xbox One
>>331319259
They released it the same day as red dead redemption
>>331324947
>Exclusively on Xbox One
nope
>>331319913
I thought that was funny.
>>331324947
>exclusive
It's on Windows 10.
It's not great but it's got that comfy Remedy charm.
>>331322901
I did it in 11 hours desu
consoles
literally
>>331319259
Same 4 enemies all game
No location damage
>>331321716
American Nightmare is a better game, mostly because its shorter and a low budget horror film
>>331325103
Xbox App on Windows 10 is Xbox.
kyrpä
>>331323942
Did you play it when it first came out? It was pretty rough.
>>331319259
Released on the same day as the far more advertised and anticipated Red Dead Redemption
>>331325460
Xbox brand is dead, they are removing it from anywhere they can anon.
W10 store has nothing Xbox related, in fact it's a separate app in W10 which actually is pretty pointless.
>>331319259
Loved this game. I plan on replaying it with the dev commentaries in the future. American Nightmare sucked ass though. Couldn't get passed 3 hours.
>>331325890
It's only about 3 hours long so you were probably near the end.
>>331325890
>Couldn't get passed 3 hours
So you finished it?
>>331325549

>MFW I click the Xbox App on Windows 10, hit the hamburger menu button, click store, search Quantum Break, and place my Pre-order
