It's F2P with one character, Jago, the Ryu of KI, and one weekly rotating character. Seasons are basically DLC packs of the remaining characters, but you can buy them separately too.
Each season is 20 though, so now if you want the full game it will be 60

In KI different enders have animations and benefits. You can deal more damage if you fire a shoryukem ender, get more meter if you use fireball ender, or do a wallsplat for a follow up if you do a tastumaki ender. Each had a different animation. But now all will have the same animation

Season 2 was originally 8 characters till the launch trailer. Then everyone thought it was "Real Boy" Shadow Jago till it was revealed to be Omen as a bonus.
Also L4 enders were always a cinematic. IG just changed them to give the game a little more breathing room because the game is even faster than S2 due to Breakers resetting to neutral than Soft knockdown. They already were experimenting with it in S2 with Aria and Shago.

They outright confirmed Gargos is a big story factor last stream, but they didn't say he was a playable character. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the same thing as Season 2 launch trailer and said "There's Nine characters now". The only reason we're probably getting RAAM is that it's been a thing for years since MK9. Ed Boon wanted to do a MS guest Character for MK 9 (His pick was Fulgore but MS management used to be a clusterfuck so he never got anywhere) and Cliffy B suggested RAAM but it was too late in the cycle for MK9.
They supposedly talked about it again for MK X and Microsoft was game because of the division restructuring meaning they could actually do the guest characters without massive clusterfucks like before. Just this time Sony were still paying for the Marketing rights and didn't want a guest character or any special modes, so the idea was dropped again.
It's more the idea has dragged out so long, why not do it in the new KI now that it's a reality?

MK 9 was Microsoft's fault because they were super shitty to work with back then and people in management positions would even find out developers were trying to talk weeks or months after the fact and they were way too late.
MK X they already discussed it from the game being announced about General RAAM. Ed Boon even joked about it on twitter after he met with Ken Lobb from MS (Though he outright said no Fulgore because the new KI was T for Teen). Ed wanted to do a character on PS4 and Xbone but Sony didn't really have a character and he wanted to keep both versions "Equal". So that's why there was no General RAAM in MK X even though he would have been perfect.

The game logic has to run at 90 FPS on Xbone so it's very, very optimized. Around season 2 they even updated it from 720p to 900p, and season 3 is vastly improving the lighting. It's probably going to run fantastic on PC.

Killer Instinct is free and has the best tutorial out of any fighting game I've played.
You can download it, finish the tutorial, and then move on to another fighting game if you end up not liking KI. But you'll learn the basics of fighting games.
Each game has their own idiosyncrasies so you won't master all fighting games with one tutorial, but it's the best imo

He has two costumes like everyone else except s. Jago and omen but the way they did his accessories, he might as well have like 6 or so costumes. Halo 5 armor default, Halo 2 armor as classic, then you can make Halo 2 Zealot, Honor Guard, Halo 4 commander, Reach ranger, and one of the Halo 3 multiplayer armors using his accessories.
