Japan is stuck in the 80s culturally. They still think white people are literally perfect and loved everywhere, and their view of the world is largely influenced by stereotypes and promotional material.
They still think Paris is the city of lights and love, not disgusting crumbling buildings, rude people, full of niggers and mudslimes, everywhere mugging amd killing people, and nobility is still a thing. They think America is grorious free cowboy land and not just a melting pot of cultures and disgusting fat people everwhere.
They still think Africa is Uga Buga tribes land, and while that part is still true in many parts, they fail to realize they are now ugabugas with guns and cars. Most of it japanese cars, ironically.
They think Arabs actually are the romanticized version the west made them out to be, with camel riding, giant bazaars and giant Agrabah cities, a Sultanate and wealth and belly dancers, and not just a bunch of insane sand niggers killing each other over which version of their sick warlord of a prophet is sicker.
They are so infatuated with the old western world that they design their characters around these features, for a people that all look alike and have no fair features to speak of.

All these anime characters have Asian facial features disguised under blonde hair and blue eyes.
Look at Kingdom Hearts characters, all of them have a distinct rounded face. Even masculine

You only see anime characters as western because you are projecting, and you probably think japs have literally yellow skin and lines for eyes.
Because in Japan everyone naturally has Dark Brown eyes and Black hair and they're usually packed together like sardines.
Many of them with they could have fanciful colorful hair and eyes to give them more individuality.
