Emulate DS and play 999 yourself. Watch a playthrough of the second game. It's worth it.

Its not the ideal way to play the game, but it works if you just want a primer on the game's plot.

Damn right it does. I forget if it's no$gba or desmume but I know 999 emulation is perfected on something, and was years ago when I emu'd it. I get why whoever wrote this said that though cause I recall vividly that one of them it was busto and the other was flawless.

Same thing happened to Ghost Trick with me. Have you ever tried the iPad version? The resolution is fucking great, it has anti-aliasing and all.
VLR is a great game that I'm probably only going to play once, I'd rather play it in the best way possible.

Second screen being for note taking/utility is handy as fuck though. Also it has better lip syncing than the Vita version. The models aren't all that impressive either. The Vita doesn't have the save breaking bug though so there's that.

No, VLR improved upon that greatly. There's a branching timeline within the game and you can just teleport to any decision point.

Well, you only have to get 2 endings to see the main story for 999
YOu have to get most of the endings in VLR to see everything.
But its not like playing the exact same game over again like 999 is. Depending on your choices, different things happen and you gotta see stuff in certain endings to unlock other endings
So in a sense, yes. But VLR is much bigger than 999 is length wise.

But you never have to play a puzzle segment more than once. After you complete it, you can jump to the segment right after.
So aside from some repeating dialogue that explains shit in every path (which you can skip through if you've already seen it once), you aren't dealing with the exact same stuff every time you do a new path.
