When did people start hating on Creative Assembly?
>>
Since shogun 2 at least
>>
once the quality of their product dropped
>>
>>330921328
This. Hattori clan pre-order DLC, faction DLC afterwards

Just got worse with every game. Doing actual campaigns and selling them along with new factions.
>>
>>330921328
Shogun 2 is great...but I bought it on sale and didn't experience it (or any total war game) at launch.

Have they ever released a decent product, or do they all magically fall into place 18 months later?
>>
>>330921060
Rome II
>>
the stupid amount of DLC with shogun 2 and the horrible release of rome 2
>>
>>330921645
I'll agree to that. If it weren't for a ridiculous sale on DLC and awesome mod support, I'd hate it.

That Empire United bullshit is terrible.
>>
>>330921645
Don't forget the horrible release of Empire. It is still in a worse shape than rome 2 now.
>>
This is the game with like $400 worth of DLC, right?
Seems like a pretty good reason.
>>
>>330922015
no, that's crusader kings 2/any paradox game
>>
>>330921060
Taking Chaos hostage to force pre-orders sure didn't help.

That's one fifth of the game gone, and chaos is pretty much the most important faction during the end times.
>>
>>330922015
Attila has some dumb dlcs but most of the dlcs are pretty good.

Let's just say you get a lot more stuff in the Attila culture packs than the rome 2 culture packs for the same price. Also Age of Charlemagne was pretty good.

This is not the end times though. CA is doing their own thing.
>>
I don't even like Total War even though I like most strategy games. Wish they would have been allowed to make another Alien game.
>>
>>330921060
Since Empire, then the Sparta DLC for ROME II
>>
>>330922368
Why are people playing such boring games
>>
>>330922283
I agree
>>
>>330922395
Really? Could have sworn that I heard End Times from somewhere, but you could be right.

Still one fifth of the game locked behind day one DLC/pre-order bonus.

>>
>>330922708
are you stupid
>>
>>330921060
At first, it was a valid issue with their shitty day one DLC

But now people are hating on absolutely everything DLC based regardless of quality
>>
>>330922368
Did you really bother to make this

Thats sad
>>
The hate is a bit excessive, especially considering it's not actually CA that decides what is DLC and not - it's SEGA.
>>
>>330923325
>hating on everything DLC based
Everything is as it should be.

The problem is Total War games have a pattern of having a poorly received initial game and then a better received "sequel" that is more a stand alone expansion.

>Empire (bad)
>Napoleon (good)

>Shogun 2 (I liked it, but many didn't)
>Fall of the Samurai (my current favorite)

>Rome II (very bad)
>Attila (good)

So going by the pattern, Total Warhammer will likely be poorly received but followed up with a improved expansion sold at full price. I don't know if this pattern is caused by the bad games being made by less experienced teams or if they don't invest enough in QA and leave in things that should have been sorted out in the beta testing (like Rome II's UI, easily fixed mistake but CA left it in because they're retards).

Furthermore, Rome II had an extremely arrogant marketing campaign in the lead up to launch where the devs just fucked around on the set of the Rome TV show.

CA deserves the hate it gets because the quality of its games is so inconsistent. The basic formula for Total War is well established, but somehow they keep fucking it up with little minor changes are either distracting or half baked ideas.

I'm used to bad diplomacy, but now I have to put up with bad internal politics as well. It's just frustrating.
>>
>>330924097
>Empire
>bad
Nigger.
>>
>>330921328
Pffft, since Medieval 2. People like to say "Empire", but the original bitching came from people complaining about the AI never using siege towers and once the AI got to an advanced enough stage, ALLS they would fucking build was siege equipment and you'd have death-stack armies consisting of nothing but catapults.
>>
>>330923884
No. It shouldnt be, and isnt.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with post release DLC support. Particularly when every single one for Attila has come with an entirely free new faction. So even those who dont buy any DLC are benefitting from it.

CAs DLC practice ignoring day 1 DLC is good.
>>

I played it on launch and there is no way anyone could possibly convince me it's good. If you have fun with stacks of line infantry, fine that's your business, but I hated Empire and was utterly disappointed with it. But I can forgive it to some extent because Empire was a new direction.

Fall of the Samurai was the Empire: Total War we should have gotten.

At least since Empire. The games became unmoddable graphics-wanks riddled with DLC, regularly launched unfinished, and the AI, both battle and strategic, is still like playing against a ruling council of gimps. At least in Empire and Napoleon the DLCs were special units which could be ignored, and the game was still reasonably full. Shit got really bad with Rome 2, with a dozen factions (including all the Greek ones) and the content for them as DLC. Attila's the same, with 15 factions behind paywalls, as well as the content for them, so you won't even get to play against their unique units or abilities or whatever.

People are disliking everything because they're fucking the Warhammer game. Only four factions at launch, Empire, Vampires, Orcs, and Dwarves. No Ratmen, Lizardmen, Elves of any kind, Egypt Skeletons, Chaos Dwarves, Beastmen, or Daemons in the game at all, let alone playable. Human minor factions will almost certainly be DLC further down the line with very little work done. Despite the humans, orcs and dwarves being subdivided into plenty of minor factions, you can only play as one specific faction of each race. Chaos warriors are already in as preorder DLC, and Bretonnia is basically confirmed for launch DLC.

As well, crippling expansion. As Empire, you can only take other human cities, and vampire cities. As vampires, vice versa. As Dwarves, you can only take cities from other dwarves and orcs, and as orcs you can only take cities from other orcs and dwarves, so no total war world conquest. Currently unclear in Empire or Vampires can expand in to Bretonnia or over other human minor factions.
>>
>>330921060
>>330921452
They really out-kiked themselves with Chaos preorder.
Sparta and Hattori were just meme factions but this shit is too big to swallow.
>>
>>330927343
Who said, I hated it, faglord?

But those were some of the complaints
>>
>>330928479
They're meant to be the god-tier game-enders and the whole point of the game's story.

It's like the Huns being DLC in Attila.
>>
>>330924684
10 DLC packs is not post release support. Why would I reply to such idiocy?

I'm a cuck, I know. The only DLCs for EU4 that I don't own are "packs" that contain shit I always own or are garbage e-books.
