Video games outright accomplish nothing in any sort of dynamic, however. I'm not saying don't play them, but if he's feeling the slog that a lot of people do where they feel as though they're "just wasting their time playing games," then he needs to take a break and do something else.

Sometimes as you get older, things just get less fun. I have a variety of hobbies and I'm enjoying all of them less and less as time slips by me. Tis the way of life.
