The entire setup of Bloodlines was a Gehenna scenario. Gehenna came around 2000 or early 2000s, and is an event where the antediluvians wake up, cannibalize their children and the world ends.
The taxi driver was set up to be either a very deluded Malkavian(malkav's jokes) with a cain complex, or Cain itself.
The latter one fits the overall theme of oWoD Gehenna.
However, they could go to the Kuei-Jin plotline, and involve Saulot somehow. Yes, yes, i know, Tremere... that antediluvian is a puppet for Saulot. He is enlightened from the East experiences - possibly not even a proper vampire anymore.

The player in bloodlines was definitely not 13th Generation thin-bloodkin, more like 6 or 7th generation. If the taxi driver sired the player, then ohohoho, we're actually talking about an antediluvian. While I'd like a new Vampire game I think the best decision would be to make a game with another WoD property. That way they don't have the baggage of Bloodlines hanging over them and have more freedom in how they make the game.
