Why did this flop so hard?
>>
>>330720105
No games.
>>
>>330720105
Because you can't balance on curved edges.
>>
Lack of support. Compatible games not available. Bretty good for $20 though.
>>
>>330720105
still had to buy a ps vita memory card.
>>
>>330720105
I'm not even really familiar with it. What'd it do exactly?
>>
>>330720105

Game incompatibilities that were never fleshed out and was abandoned by Sony before it even released.

Could have been amazing, but Sony forgot how to Vita.
>>
Because it wasn't as good as a vita and it wasn't as good as other tv multimedia boxes.

play a few vita games
>>
>>330720105
People who care about playing vita games own a vita.
>>
>>330720348
play vita games on a tv but like >>330720308
said compatibility issues with games and you still needed a ps vita memory card to save
>>
>>330720348

A Vita you could plug into your TV that played Vita games, PS1 games, PSP games, PS Now, and remote played with your PS4 that used PS3/PS4 controllers for 100$.

Should have been pretty great, buy 9/10th's of the library doesn't work for absolutely no reason.
>>
>>330720105
Its the same thing as Apple TV, Chrome TV, every other TV service

it offered nothing

>/v/

nobody really knew what the fuck it was and as soon as you hear the words tv you think of shit quality

but in reality it's a vita without the touch functions and you can play with an actual controller which imo makes some of the games alot more playable

I like playing vita games with a ps4 controller -- feels comfy as fuck
>>
>>330720105
Because a consolized spin-off of the fucking vita isn't going to attract anyone new except for me who use it as a streaming box.
>>
>>330720348

Play Persona 4 Golden, which is the sole reason why I own the thing, aside from the PS3 controller it came with.
>>
>>330721970
Can I use physical Vita games on it or does it have to be digital only?
>>
If the Vita flopped why would anybody buy it's retarded cousin?
>>
>>330722260
Physical or digital is fine
Use this compatibility list to see if you can play
http://www.reviews2go.com/playstation-tv-compatible-games-north-america/
>>
>>330722260

Physical games work thankfully.

yes you can it has a slot for physical carts
>>
If Nintendo released one of these for 3DS it would have sold millions.
>>
I'm surprised nobody has hacked it since sony is dropping it

There's your answer

Why THE FUCK did Sony advertise this when it had no home viewing apps?

Do I actually need a Vita to play games on this thing?

I just wanna play P4:Golden man
>>
90% or more of the vitas exclusives aren't compatible + no no hard drive or decent amount of flash storage.

I literally bought mine for $10 at Best Buy last year.
>>
>>330722876

Nope. Just a PS3 controller.
>>
>>330722814
You could watch content bought or rented via PSN I guess.
>>
>>330722876
nope it plays almost every game the vita does. Any game that relies heavily on the touchscreen most likely isnt playable.

It's got Crackle, though!
Sony's Netflix with absolutely nothing on it except Jerry Seinfeld drinking coffee.
>>
I thinking of getting one solely to finish Ys MoC, and play Spyro and Crash with the DS4 because the DS3 sucks dick.
>>
>>330723029
>Any game that relies heavily on the touchscreen most likely isnt playable.
Depends, KZ:Merc is terrible with the tiny touch-pad on the PS4 controller.
>>
>>330720105
it's worse than a Vita
and worse than most streaming devices
>>
>>330720105
I got one for twenty bucks, had to shill out about the same for a decent memory card, and use my old DS3 with it. During a PS Store sale I picked up a ton of classic jRPGs for 2-3 dollars apiece and dl'd them all onto it. So now I have a very tiny, semi-portable 90's jRPG machine, with P4G for the giggles. I actually really like it. Easy to stuff in my backpack and hooks up to any TV with an hdmi.
>>
>>330723268

>Crackle

God that's the worst.

A streaming content service which owned by a Japanese company but not available in Japan. At all.

It's so fucking weird how Sony operates.
>>
>>330722898
So did I bro, that was one crazy sale!

I ended up selling it for a vita

Cool. Thank you.
>>
>>330720105
Sony was so worried about hiding the fact that it plays vita games, that no one understood what it was and it wasn't marketed properly.
>>
>>330722802
It's still a Vita on the inside.

Made of parts from the launch OLED model actually. They lost 11 billion yen throwing them away last fiscal year.
>>
>>330720105
/v/ did more advertisement for this thing than Sony ever dd
>>
Here's a Sony TV device.
Netflix? NO
Youtube? Removed with firmware update
Hulu? Eventually
CrunchyRoll? Yes
Vita Games? Well aside from the ones that used Vita features and ones developers have PS4/PS3 versions to sell yes.

I'll take it!
>>
Sony for some retarded reason forgot to advertise that it played Vita games
>>
>>330720105

-Everybody uses Chromecast, FireTV, AppleTV, Roku. TV top set market is flooded with Androd boxes, Single board computers and HTPC. It was under-marketed to a very competitive market.

- It's too restricted. Limited Storage, and DRM makes it crappy to use a media center. No home brew scene meant nobody could modify the thing to be something special.

- It doesn't have Twitch/Netflix/Youtube/Twitch, or any unique content/app/good streaming services to drawn normies.

- It's library consist of PS2/PS1/Vita games. PS2/PS1 are replayable on other mutiplatforms, and Vita games get ported to the PS4. Nobody outright needs to shell out cash to the thing.
>>
It plays almost all vita games. People who say it only plays a few are uninformed.
>>
>>330720496
>9/10th's of the library doesn't work
Shit like this. The majority of Vita games work on it but the uninformed keep spouting that most games don't work. Sony did a piss poor job of making sure people knew the truth
>>
>>330727037
That's not really a positive feature at this point.
>>
>>330727218
Epic bro epic
>>
>>330727208
There was a lot of stuff early on that didn't even get known compatibility updates. I lurked Vitagen all the time and never once knew Senran Kagura Bon Appetit was removed from the blacklist.

The best Neptunia game can't be played, and I'm fairly sure a Falcom game or two got patched but no one noticed.
>>
>>330727208
It doesn't help that Sony's own compatibility list shows it at less than 30% of all Vita games, or that some games just flat out don't work when you try them despite not being dependent on touch controls.
>>
>>330722589
just whitelist all the games most games work fine unless they require the touch screen
>>
Compatibility issues and memory card prices.
>>
It can't even use the Netflix app senpai.

>B-b-but you should already have another device that does that!!!
>>
>>330722814
>no Netflix
Holy shit why even bother
>>
So is it worth it to get one of these things just so I don't have to buy a Vita?
>>
>>330728691
It's a fun little Persona 4 Golden machine
>>
>>330720105
Literally everything that went wrong with the Vita in addition to not being compatible with all Vita games and no settings for input lag despite a good amount of Vita games being rhythm games
>>
>>330728739
Couldn't care less about JRPG's. Anything else?
>>
>>330728865
You're asking if you want one. I'm saying they play the games most people want to play that haven't jumped ship to PS4.
>>
Is this device worth it assuming you only have a ps3 and a lot of free vita games from ps+ subscription, but never owned a vita?
>>
>>330728691
You can get them dirt cheap at like Walmart or whatever.

Muramasa works on it and that's what I got it for, but having to look up the whitelist every time I'm considering buying another game is a pain in the dick.
>>
>>330722794
Good thing that's what the NX is
>>
>>330729000
I think they made the point of having the free games be PSTV compatible after it was announced.

Even then most of the stuff blocked is launch stuff and then the Japanese games that weren't made with the PSTV in mind that already had come over and the developers didn't provide the patch to fix it.
