SH fan here, Origins sucks and rapes the lore, and the SH:SM's PS2 port is the worst one of all three.
if you wanna save cash, you can play the PC ports of SH2-4, and emulate 1.

Get a fat version. Best build quality and comes with the option to install an HDD properly. It also doesn't have the terrible power cable that the slim version has.
I have both and I never use the slim.

SwapMagic is great but installing an HDD or SD mod is much easier and cheaper in the long run.

I've got Swap magic, but last I checked it was really hard to get a hold of and a lot more hassle than just USB booting.
It's all I use though, so I know jack shit, really.
If you get a fat, you can use an HDD loader. That's why I use my fat over my slim.

funnily enough since my ps2 isn't compatible with free McBoot I actually have to use a swap magic in order to load my stuff
