Grand exchange was the last good idea Jagex had.
The following things killed Runescape
>no free trade limit
>removal of wilderness
While these two items were both temporary, they paved the way for a shit ton of unbalanced content coming into Runescape, since things were no longer considered with wilderness balance in mind.

Made 99% of things in runescape trivial, with shit like pack mules and unicorns
But the update that made Runescape irredeemable, was definitely EOC.
Fortunately OSRS is still pretty good. Unfortunately about 30% of the community is autistic and votes no to everything, even really cool looking new content.

Every creature had bonus effects. Some was extra backpack space, but some healed you while you did slayer and shit, so was basically like a backpack full of food in a single creature.
