Grim Dawn is a Titan Quest clone.

It's boring as shit compared to PoE, Diablo and Torchlight.
>>
>>330397140
Because it was better when it was called Titan Quest, and even then wasn't as good as Diablo 2
>>
>>330398376
>Grim Dawn is a Titan Quest clone.

hurr you mean it's made by the Titan Quest devs using the same engine

if you think it's a clone then you've clearly played neither game

>>330398392
Can't let go? It's a NEW game, which is trying to make things work for itself. Like lore and story and skills and shit.
Too bad game has no end-game to speak of.

They're both boring as shit and don't understand a single thing about what makes this genre interesting.
>>
Diablo 2 was literally the only good ARPG.

on PC. BGDA and CoN were the only good console ARPGs.
>>
>>330398783
>what makes this genre interesting.
So, it is simply not for you, then. Why not play something you enjoy?
>>330398805
Here is a (You) for you too.

Am I supposed to believe that's your library?

Because the "1428308698621.png" leads me to think it isn't.

Ergo, you haven't played these games.

It also does the same thing as Titan Quest where it overstays its welcome. They should've made it half as long with the same amount of enemy and loot variety. I've been killing pigs and grobluoins for the last 5 hours. I want it to end.

waiting for drm free because fuck steam
i'm excited to play

According to developer on the official forums the GOG version will be releasing some time this month. I can't wait to play this shit.

Hey guys playing a shaman atm, going for those hits that do multiple attacks on multiple enemies. What should my second class spec be?
>>
>>330400742
soldier

get that autoheal ability

together with shaman healing skills (wendigo totem and whatever) you'll be unstoppable
>>
>>330397140
Pet based Summoner is the easiest way to do HC. Nothing evenew comes within striking range.
>>
I'm playing a Conjurer with a Shaman primary so I have lightning and pets, but upon reading the descriptions of Kymon's Chosen and Order of Death's Vigil, I'm torn on which one would be best for my character.

What do?
>>
>>330401683
choose based on flavor I guess

do you want to be a righteous evil smiting paladin or an edgy necromancer faggot?
>>
Why are all ARPG's so fucking dull to play when compared to Diablo 3? In Diablo 3 everything is so fucking fluid and polished, then you go to something like PoE or Torchlight 2 or Grim Dawn and it's like you stepped back in time 15 years. In some cases this is a good thing, but not when it comes to actually playing the game. I don't really care if PoE gives me the option to go through thirty-thousand health nodes and have a ranged character who uses melee or not, it's still boring as fuck. And you want to talk build variety? D3 lets you entirely change your build whenever you please with pretty much no consequences, a "casual" option that keeps shit fresh, whereas other games decide to just punish you if you ever think of doing a respec because it's more "hardcore" that way, forcing you to either copy-paste someone else's build that's already proven or be stuck with a boring/broken build you can never escape from.

D3's problems are a shit campaign, the RMAH (gone forever) and mostly just a general lack of content which Blizzard doesn't seem to want to remedy. But you can't tell me for anyone whose actually played D3 recently and didn't just quit around launch never to touch it again that you honestly enjoy playing shit like PoE more; maybe because you devoted hundreds of hours to your build with one or two boring abilities as you slowly click away at enemies and press keys for healing/mana on occasion so you've deluded yourself into thinking this is true. Grim Dawn is alright as well but I can't see myself playing it for much longer, at least it's not an absolute snooze-fest like Titan Quest was.

So I should stick with 2 handed swords?
>>
>>330402647
duh

all of a shaman's basic skills requite it

>>330402465
Waiter, this pasta is stale.
>>
>>330402465
D3's problem is too much health on hit which turns the game into a pure stat grind. There's not skill or thought to the gameplay. It's just a matter of whether you have the right gear to right click enemy X and watch it die while you regain any health lost.

Torchlight manages to be just as smooth without being retard as all hell.

I think it's named "/v/ Grim Dawn"

Is it true this game is like 90% passive abilities and auto attacking? I require cool active skills. I can't have fun without them.
>>
I know the total no of Devotion points you can use is 50. But is 50 the total number of points you can find?

I finished normal veteran and got 25 Devotion points (didnt do the Mog quest yet). Am I missing points? If I go to elite do I risk missing out on points?
>>
>>330403217
>Is it true this game is like 90% passive abilities and auto attacking?

no

see for yourself, here's a skill calculator: http://grimcalc.com/
>>
>>330403236
You need to play on Elite and then Ultimate to get the rest of the shrines.

I'm scared of going to Ultimate but I need to finish my constellations.
>>
>>330403217
theres a ton of passive abilities, that is true. But there are also a lot of active abilities you have to use+ a bunch of active abilities yo uget from gear+enchants. I finished the first difficulty, and by the time I was level ~35-40, I already was using the second actionbar because I had too many skills
>>
>>330402860
So what should i focus my points in physicue? spirit? cunning?
>>
>>330403236
There are 28 on normal.
>>
>>330403236
There are more than 50 across all difficulties. 25 in normal/veteran. 20 in elite. You should have 45 by the end of elite. Once you have 50 and you still see a shrine, you'll get treasure and experience instead. The treasure quality is equivalent to a one-shot chest (very good quality).
>>
>>330403650
you'll need physique to use 2-handed weapons but I don't think stat placement really matters much otherwise
>>
>>330403817
ah great. thanks for the info
>>
>>330403817
http://grimdawn.wikia.com/wiki/Shrines

Restoring a shrine grants a single point of Devotion, with a maximum of 50 points. There are total of 59 Shrines across all three difficulties, 28 in Normal, 17 in Elite and 14 in Ultimate.

Same as you can only have FIVE inventory bags, but you get quest rewards with them still.

What makes it different from TQ? Legit question.

So far all I've seen from this game really reminds me of it. From character stats, the skill progression, the dual class system.
>>
>>330404131
My numbers for normal/elite are wrong, but you get the idea. You can also just check on the map and quest log (far right tab) for any shrines you missed.

It might sound strange to you, but The World.
Lore, premise, character classes, setting. I don't know, everything apart from the same engine as TQ and mechanics that are tied to the engine. IMO.
>>
>>330404482
So it's like TQ with new coat of paint? Not that I'm complaining TQ was solid Diablo clone on its own, but the static map killed it. Sure it's great the first time but after that it's just a choir. Also fuck egypt.
>>
>>330403650
I have a Warder (soldier/shaman) that uses 2-handers. You want lots of physique for armor and weapons (and health) and a bit of cunning. I had 50/30 physique/cunning at level 78. That's probably too much cunning, but I wanted to maintain good crit chance.
In hindsight, I probably should have just stacked OA instead through equipment and devotion.
>>
>>330404662
The way you say it, you can use the same argument on ANY ARPG at all. Even if you don't mean it as a bad thing, it still has this 'bad vibe'. So while I don't agree with 'new coat of pain' statement you've used, you can say that.
>>
>>330405002
If you want to generalize it like that, then sure.

I know what set TQ, Torchlight, PoE and Diablo 3 apart from each other. Like, I said. I wanted to know what set it apart from the old TQ, that's not what you've already mentioned.
>>
>>330405346
much better exploration, MUCH(!!!) better itemization, more interesting character building, interesting quests, sidequests, dialogue, etc (rare in an arpg)
>>
>>330405346
>that's not what you've already mentioned.
How is it not? >>330404482 is how I look at it.
I don't know what else to say to you.

what's the best place to farm or get Ectoplasm? Took me 3 times to finish SoT, and now I dont have enough ectoplasm for a skeleton key for Bastion of Chaos

>>
>>330406265
Ghosts. Just kill ghosts.
>>
>>330406325
PoE shills have become worse than weebshits, and thats saying a lot
>>
Have they mentioned what they plan to do with Grim Dawn, like expansions or something?

After playing Grim Dawn, I really wish they'd make Titan Quest 2, maybe with Norse, Aztec myths and maybe re-exploring the Egyptian and Babylonian Underworld. Grim Dawn's world setting isn't bad, I just loved the mythological element of TQ more
>>
>>330406920
There are KS backer tier with TWO expansions in it.
>>
>>330407147
Guess I'll have to wait ten more years for my TQ2
>>
>>330407406
I'd say five.
Unless they decide that GD2 is more viable choice.

Started hardcore character yesterday. No need to worry about some random disconnects and it much more enjoyable than softcore.
Game is fucking fun playing solo.

is it even possible to talk about any game without being a shill?
