What went so right with the 7th generation of gaming?
>>330392742
Literally nothing.
>>330392742
7th gen was terrible. The only thing that makes it look decent is 8th gen.
>>330393176
>>330393715
Contrarian fags get out. 7th gen was great
>>330393820
Prove it
It was a better generation than the current one sure. But best generation? No way was it the best generation
Gen 7 & 8 are the worst gens since gen 2. I will feel sorry for every kid in this world who will grow up in these 2 gens.
Year one games for only one of the consoles of the 6th gen already beats out everything in OPs picture.

>You will never be a teenager with near limitless time to play PS2 games when they are the current gen, ever again
>You will never have From Software Armored Core games coming out regularly on your system again
>You will never relive the MGS2 ending as an impressionable teenager again
>You will never blow off direct invites from females to lose your virginity 100% guilt-free because you know OBJECTIVELY that the PS2 is way more fun than vagina
My god man. If I had just died when I was 18, I could have looked back on my life and known that everything went exactly as it was supposed to go.
There are 3 maybe 4 good games in that picture
Doesn't really matter though because you can tell this is from some facebook page for 15 year olds
>>330394180
>tfw the PS2's lifespan was all of my highschool years
feels good looking back, especially when comparing it to shitty ass 7th or 8th gen.
>>330394534
Nothing will ever beat the PS2 era. 8th gen just makes that even more obvious than ever.
>everything on that list is either a mature dudebro murder simulator or a cinematic experience
The 7th gen was a mistake.
>>330392742
The best part of 7th gen was the rise of indies and free online everywhere but 360. If there's anything 7th gen will be remembered for, its spawning the indie game.
>>330392742
>"best generation ever"
>posts bioshock infinite
oh I am laffin
>>330395227
So your saying, even the best part of 7th gen is still a horrible cancer that is slowly killing the game industry today.
>>330394180
So, so many hours of Baldur's Gate.
>mfw final boss immune to my preferred elemental choice.
Now, I'm not going to hop into the hate bandwagon because I haven't played every-single game that has appeared in the 7th generation and I'm not going to be in the "everything that becomes popular becomes shit" crowd (because I believe that everything simply becomes more filled with trash, but also is more common to find gems), but I do believe that bad practices in the media became more and more common so publishers shoving it into beloved IPs became a surprise for no one at the end of the generation, but I'm also frustrated about the fact that development teams that were +50 staff became a norm.
I'm have more hope in the 8th generation. If you had a console in the early 7th genearion, you got the most shit.
>Game became bigger and more time consuming so everyone had like 2 or 3 games to play
>Micro-transactions and DLC were a new thing so it was EVEN SHITTIER than now
>Bull-fucking-shit load times in everything
>>330392742
It had such a shit begining. It ended decently, but with how it popularizes ondisc and overpriced dlc I will never remember it fondly.
Bonus mention for fucking RRoD.
>>330395552
in what way?
>>330393820
It really isn't. It was overall, a downgrade. Really the only good thing to come out of it was online multiplayer becoming more common and the Wii. Everything else (Everything in OP's pic) is shit.
>>330393176
First post is ALWAYS right.
>>330394806
same
I remember graduating and the PS3 being $599 US dollars and thinking that I had a good run with vidya as my hobby but was done with video games because the PS3 was too expensive and I was going to be so busy with college and life for video games
boy was a I wrong
Dark Souls, that's about it.
>>330396063
>Wii being good thing

>>330396025
before 7th gen all online was free. It set a bad example for the future.

>>330395716
I kind of want to spend the rest of the year pretending its 2004 playing these games and listening to bright eyes and watching gilmore girls
>>330396496
xbox live wasnt free druing 6th gen either
some ps2 games had monthly subscription to playin japan
>You were lucky enough to grow up during the Fifth/Sixth generations of gaming
>>330392742
>>Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, TLOU
Yep, you just comfirmed than 7th gen was terrible
>>330397049
Alright you got me there, but I still will say that 7th gen made the idea of paying for online popular, although I suppose that is more the fault of the consumer and not the consoles themselves.
>>330396159
I felt the same way about the PS triple... especially since it was $659 plus taxes here in Canada and I was a broke 18 year old. I waited until the MGS4 bundle came out to buy it. I've had a PS4 for like a year and a half now and own only 5 games... I end up playing old shit more often nowadays.
