Do fanbases affect the game
>>
fuck no lol
>>
Depends on the game. If it's a multiplayer game, then yes.
>>
>>330387757
Yes just look at undertale
>>
>>330387757
When trying to discuss the game, yes.
When playing the game, no.

>Minecraft
>FNAF
>Undertale
>>
Sometimes. Depends on the developer.

Most of the time they're only lightly considered important because they're a minority of people that actually buy the game.
>>
>>330387757

only if your a faggot.
>>
>>330389129
In FNAF defence, it was shit from the start.
>>
if you have to interact with them, yes.
>>
>>330387757
>singleplayer game
the fanbase can spoil it for you
>multiplayer game
only makes finding good servers hard
>>
>>330387757
Not if it's a single player game. Like, do you HAVE to communicate with people within the fanbase if you're playing the game?
>>
Fanbases ruin single player games only if you let them ruin it. Other wise just ignore that shit.

It's hard to ignore a bad fanbase in a multiplayer game, when they're everywhere you go.
>>
>>330389201
the first one was good but 2 was enough that's all
>>
>>330389129
Are you really so insecure that you can only like games that all the cool people like?
>>
>>330389129
The fanbasse for Undertale and Minecraft didn't effect the games for me, I already played them, enjoyed them, and forgotten about them by the time their fanbases had hit its worst point.

I never had an interest in FNAF from the start, it just looked like your average shitty Newgrounds jump scare horror game, except on Steam.
>>
>>330387757
Only if it's multiplayer only.
It's not like single player games change based on the fanbase.
>>
>>330387757

They affect how you perceive a game and your lasting impression of such.
>>
>>330389129
Are you saying that Undertale was made with a specific audience in mind and thus the finished product was affected? I can understand that. But if you're saying a that a fanbase can have any effect on a single player game post release, you're an autistic retard.
>>
GET AWFF ON DA PLUG TWICE
>>
>>330389129
>Minecraft
It garnered a massive fanbase and had multiplayer, yes it was affected.
>FNAF
The sequels were affected, not so much the original game it was still shit
>Undertale
Not really, the game was single player, no changes were made to the game by the fanbase, aside from some backer made bosses which were fine, mostly
>>
>>330387757
Not unless you're a(n) autist/child/insecure faggot.
Same with hating games because of the fan base. You should only hate on a game if it's objectively bad.
>>
>>330389524
>cool
lmao seriously who the fuck cares what /v/ thinks is cool, this shitpile is full of neet rejects and high school/jr high rejects who watch anime
>>
>>330387757
Yes, though only if you have autism.
>>
Only if you're such a thin skinned nancy that people saying things about something can have such a profound effect on your perception of it. Not to mention it's pretty damn easy to avoid the fans if you really want to.
>>
>>330387757
Not unless it's multiplayer.
>>
Before and during development, fans and potential fans are crucial to shaping a games development. Especially for sequels and triple A titles. Afterwords they can change public perception and the face of any potential mulitplayer aspects. So pretty much yes they do affect the game but it depends on the type of game. Nothing exists in a vacuum.

it affects the discussion of it on 4chan thats for damn sure

as to wiether it affects the game itself? no not unless its an online multiplayer or something

What's wrong with Filthy Frank. He's an ass who doesn't take himself seriously at all. What's not to like?

Minecraft and FNAF make sense since the fanbase requesting autistic shit drove the quality of the sequels into the dirt. Undertale's fanbase hasn't done anything to influence the game whatsoever, unless you count that RNG Gaster door bullshit.
>>
>>330389129
FNAF has a fanbase? Where can i see how fucked up are they?
>>
>>330390004
No one in the thread is talking about them.
>>
>>330388942
This pretty much.

An overbearing community who has an effect on the games development can also be a bad thing. See:indie games that pander to faggots like speed runners and deliberately leave bugs in their game.
>>
only if the devs listen to them

shadow the hedgehog is a great example of an incredly bad fucking idea taken seriously by the guys in suits/publisher
>>
>>330387757
if youre able to shut every fan out, then no
i guess the only time the fanbase does effect how you play the game is with multiplayer that doesnt have a mute function.
>>
>>330387757
yes, just look at DS fanbase for PC and consoles, same game diferent cancer

yes, especially single player games that are made by indie developers because they affect my experience of the game deeply and I always happen to walk through every con in the US on my drive to work

Did something happen to SpeedRunners? That game was fun as sh
>and deliberately leave bugs in their game.
Oh you mean actual speed runners like with A Hat in Time
>>
>>330387757
Literally only if you're an insecure autist or if the game is online multiplayer only
>>
It definitely effects multiplayer games and if for sure effects thread quality, but as for the game itself I'm not sure. Just because bad games tend to have awful fanbases doesn't imply causation.
>>
>>330392175
>Tfw you could watch and talk about cartoons without furries turning it into a goddamned sermon.
>>
It depends on the game. If it's singleplayer and the devs don't care, the only effect it'll have is having a hard time to find good people to discuss the game with.

If it's multiplayer things get much worse.
