I found it impossible to take the story seriously, or care for the characters, when they mass murder human beans without feeling anything at all, all because of treasure and loot. And it is never even addressed, not part of their character. And it was supposed to be written by Amy Hennig. What a huge disappointment.

Is that really a big deal in those games? Sure the killing is more intended for gameplay fluff than actual narrative, but many action films follow the same formula and never suffer from a character disconnect just because he doesn't lay down and cry thinking about all the mothers and fathers he's killed who's spouses and children will have to go on without them or even seek revenge. It doesn't come up and it's not a big deal.
