Hey, /v/, I'm looking for an MMO that's free, has a good community. and isn't too recent because toaster PC.
Can somebody please point me in the right direction?Ignore pic related, just a random screenshot from Google.
There's none. The only MMO that's still somewhat alive is WoW. Sorry.

dont listen to him. of all mmo's wow is the leas "alive" in sense that its so antisocial
>>330248845
what kind of mmo you would like/hate?
>>330249834
Not even anything with a low population?

I'm mainly looking for a fantasy setting, like World of Warcraft.

>>330250881

>your opinion must be same as others
You could try guild wars 2. Although it is a tad restrictive to those who don't buy the game. Still fun to be had on f2p though
FFXIV is recent but it can still run on a toaster

I've been having fun with EverQuest on P1999 recently. It has a great community, but if you're put off by slow leveling it may not be for you.
Runes of Magic
Lord of the Rings Online (pay barrier but you can earn points to pay for it by playing the game)
Dungeons and Dragons Online (same as above)
Played all three for at least a year each and never dealt with anyone annoying
Not OP, but:

>Runes of Magic
Is THAT still a thing?
>Anything to do with the pay barriers
You must be joking anon, suggesting those
>>330252569
I'm curious on P1999, but the small community would throw me off. I mean, I'd be all by myself on the first levels and beyond, right?

>I'd be all by myself on the first levels and beyond, right?
You would generally solo at least to 10 or 12, that's how it was in retail. After that there are plenty of groups.
>>330253246
It's pretty well populated, actually. Peaks hours have around 1500 players, and the lowest I've seen it go is about 700. Individual servers didn't have many more players than that back in the day, so it's a good fit. Some low level areas like Erud are super dead, but there are always a good number of players hanging around the more popular starting areas.

>>330253618
Oh! I could deal with that if the first ten levels aren't insane. What might be the requeriments to be able to play? Also, I'm completely blind when it comes to EQ, any suggestion if I want something specific as a magic swordman or eldritch knight?
>>330253736
The first few levels vary depending on class and starting area, but it's usually not too bad. I'm not sure about the requirements, but I'm sure it's not very demanding. There's even a pretty robust number of settings to turn down if it gets choppy.
There are a few hybrid melee classes in the game, but only one of them is arcane based. Shadowknights are Warrior/Necromancers, Paladins are Warrior/Clerics and Rangers are Warrior/Druids. Bards do a little bit of everything casters can do, and Shamans deserve an honorable mention since they're actually pretty dangerous in melee due to haste and slows that reduce enemy attack speed.

I guess I'll be helping myself to whatever information the P1999 can provide me then on classes and shit, thank you very much, kind anon.A shame it won't be today, I've got FFXIV raiding to do
>>330254541
No problem, I'm glad I could help. If you get into it and want any help, just send me a tell. I'll probably be on Arilath, but I've also been playing characters named Corinel and Waldemar. I'm not super rich or maxed out, but I have a level 35 druid and a few hand me downs that could help out.
Also, this guide has a lot of useful information.

Thanks anon, I'll go check that out.
OP, oldschool Runescape seems to be making an unironic comeback. Pretty chill.
>>330255742
Never played Runescape before, seems like a good way to get into it.
>>330252569
What's the goal in this game. Its just grinding ?
>>330257421
Whats the goal of any mmo?
Leveling up, raiding, gearing, getting wealth, enjoying your class.
>>330257421
Exploring, helping fellow players, gaining experience and finding treasure. It's not really a themepark MMO, so your adventures and interactions with other players are generally their own rewards. Some people really get into the endgame raiding, but I've never tried it myself.
