What would the PS3 look better on?

An HD CRT (Sony XBR 960) in 1080i or an IPS LED monitor (Eizo Foris FS2434) in 1080p?
>>

The Eizo
>>
Unfortunately on any LED monitor

CRT (even the XBR) which I have can't handle HDMI-resolution well (component)

CRTs suffer from geometry, overscan/underscan and convergence issues, while LCDs have pixel-perfect geometry with no overscan/underscan or convergence issues. It also misses out on the 1080p.

However, CRTs generally have better color and contrast, along with better motion handling.

ps3 games were generally subhd though, so they look stretchy and grainy on 1080 screens

oh wait I mean ps4 games
>>
>>330069986
Most PS3 games ran at a native resolution of 720p, which is HD. Very few ran in 1080i and even less in 1080p.

DELET THIS

I want to get a PS1 and a PS2.

Should i get the S-Video cables too? my TV cant do component.

>ps3 games were generally subhd though, so they look stretchy and grainy on 1080 screens

I'm not talking about the resolution of the game you idiot

But the nature of digital-analog connection and technology

LCD-LED vs CRT

(sorry if you are not a nigger, but I had to call you idiot)
>>

PS2 has perfect backwards compatibility and equal performance with PS1 games, so I don't know why you'd get a PS1. What can your TV do?
>>
>>330070681

What size is your CRT?

I use s-video because I prefer the natural filter of S-video than the crystal clear component

I have a 21 Inch samsung CRT

And S-video for PS1 games is AWESOME
>>
>>330069812
Makes sense. HDMI is a digital signal, while CRTs are analog by nature.
>>
>>330070828
You cant play burned games trough natively trough softmod in PS2.

The max it can do its 480i.
>>
>>330070974
>The max it can do its 480i
I'm guessing it only has Composite, S-Video and RF inputs then. Yeah, go with S-Video.
>>
>>330071146
Yes, i also have a Sony trinitron 32" that has component, but cant do 480p either, also the vertical stabilizer is fucked so i rarely use it.
>>
>>330071303
I sold my 34" triniton Sony yesterday

100kg (actually 91kg)

My room is very small.
>>
>>330071303
Well, Component is miles better than S-Video even at 480i/240p. You can get a 4:3 240p/480i Sony Trinitron with component inputs for dirt cheap on Craigslist, and they look amazing for all pre Dreamcast consoles.
>>
>>330071646
They don't

Component for PS2 is not good, only for God of War II and some other games.

S-video is the way 95% of the time looks better
>>
>>330071646
Well im not from the US to start and i was looking for something cheap, specially since i can use the S-video cable on both PS1 and PS2.

And PS1 doesnt support component cables.

This, the PS3 was a huge piece of shit if you had an early HDTV that only 480p/1080i support, as most games would only output 480p/720p.

360 on the other hand had a built in hardware scalar that would make it so every game could output in 1080i.

Yeah, the HD CRT (XBR960) can only output 480p and 1080p. It accepts 720p signals, but upconverts them to 1080i. Its ideal for Wii and GameCube, but for some reason the PS3 doesn't look as crisp and clean as on a LED TV.

I think there's at least 3 reasons why the PS3 doesn't look as good on an HD CRT compared to a Plasma TV/OLED/LED monitor.

1) HDMI is a digital signal, which has to be converted to an analog signal to be displayed on the XBR960.

2) 95% of PS3 games are natively rendered in 720p. So they have to be upscaled to 1080 in either case.

3) The upscaled 1080 signal then has to be interlaced.

Depends on how good the component cables are. Unlike HDMI (which is a digital signal so it either works or it doesn't), there is a discrepancy in the quality of component cables.
>>
Is there any difference between chinese/no brand cables and original cables?
>>
>>330074382
Yes
>>
>>330074809
How big? and what is the difference?
