The first battle against Kane can be brutal if you didn't get some exp. Most hated boss of mine in shining force is that bitch in the huge evil castle (you know the one) that can cast lightning 3 or 4 which hits like 12 units. Odd eye is probably 3rd, but the best fight in the series.

The one that guards one of the swords you need to get, might be her. she got me with it at the worst times.

Mishaela guards the lightsword if I recall correctly. She has Bolt2, which is the ~16 sq explosion one that can wipe out 10 characters at once. Bolt3 is Dark Dragon only, does triple the damage of Bolt2 but only has the 5sq range.
by the time i got to dark dragon my main units were absolute beasts. The Main with his green lightsaber crushed damage.

Shining force 2 is even easier
if I remember all you do is diagonal your warriors so they can only hit 1 or two at a time. You heal who gets hit or they die whatever. Then when youre sure you can beat him encircle him and have everyone hit him simultaneously.
