If Valve took a page from GOG's book about Galaxy and incorporated it into Steam, would the PC gaming distribution industry be a better place?

took a page out of what?

GOG is worse than Steam in every way

>what is galaxy

GOG's game distribution client. Similar to Steam and Origin, except there is no DRM on Galaxy.

Steam isnt DRM. Steamworks is, and is completely up to the developer. Which is why there are tons of DRM-free games on Steam
>>

i never said gog is bad sperg, im just wondering why would you use galaxy
>>
>>329937250

less games, less features
there's no reason to use GOG. nice try shill
>>
>>329937414
DRM free, the whole library, Steam won't let you keep your games like GOG will.
>>
>>329937286
then why dont you explain why Steam isnt better
>>
>>329937220
Why does gog have a distribution client?

i don't like galaxy... seemed way too feature lite when compared to steam... the community part of GOG is fucking horrible. steam all the way
>>
>>329937250
No one is saying that. Stop trying to instigate shit you female.
>>
>>329937498
there are plenty of games that let you keep your games and are DRM-free. you clearly dont know shit about anything.

Are you GOG shills going to pretend to go out of business again to get traffic?

Helps keep games up to date and downloading extras such as soundtracks for example is extremely easy.
>>
>>329936894
>would the PC gaming distribution industry be a better place?

No, because most publishers and developers WANT to have DRM on their games, and DRM before Steamworks was a fucking nightmare.
>>
>>329937697
Too late, OP mentioned Valve and GOG in the same post.
>>
>>329937558
GOG Galaxy has automatic updates and achievements though.
>>
>>329937558
This image is missing a pretty important note

Gog makes sure their games work and very old games are modded to work right out the box

not a necessarily good thing
>achievements

wow it's fucking nothing
>family sharing
If it's not DRM, then it should have that too

The only good thing is the refunds.

why is GOG such scummy trash
>>
>>329937414
>there's no reason to use GOG.

That's a ridiculous statement.

There are games on GOG that are not on Steam, just as there are games on Steam that are not on GOG. One is more common than the other, but a reason is still a reason even if it rarely happens.

That's a stretch

wat?
Also, the fact that there's DRM-free game on steam doesn't change the fact that there's also tons of game you can get without DRM on GoG and that are packed with DRM through Steam. Why would I get Div:OS, Superhot, Darkest Dungeon or whatever the fuck on Steam when GoG exist?
>>
>>329937981
Because Steam overlay, cloud saving, refunds, automatic updates, workshop, etc.
>>
>>329937956
>GOG Galaxy has automatic updates
It's not. It optional but it works pretty well.
>>
>>329937981
Because Valve is PC gaming and they are doing what they can to make PC gaming better every single day.

GoG are just greedy polish nerds who sell old games while adding nothing new.

>>
>>329938781
GOG doesn't have refunds, dumbass. Only for early-access games (two weeks max) or if your game literally does not work (four weeks max)
>>
>>329938110
GoG does have automatic update and a refund system, though. It also have an overlay system but quite franly it's still so much in developpement in isn't worth mentionning, it works with like, 2 games so far. On the otherhand, I don't know much game that make a good use of the workshop either. Only time I really used it, it was more a pain than a convenient system. That could have changed, though, I don't know.

What? Are you retarded? You're literraly saying there's a refund system and then you're saying there's none.

Let me translate what you were probably trying to say : You're right and the pic is right : GoG has a refund system, however its resctrictions makes it less usefull than the Steam refund system.

Yes, that's correct. It doesn't change the fact that there's one and that it's working. It's just limited, but at least you won't be stuck with shit that doesn't work because you just updated to Win10, for instance.
>>
>>329939202
The fact you don't like how refund stystem work or its restriction doesn't make it non-existant, silly anon.

so it does

>>
>>329936894
I really hate how aggressively GOG is pushing Galaxy. Fuck that shit.
>>
>>329940537
Origin has many more active users now because EA aggressively pushed it. The tactic works.
>>
>>329937558
>>329938781
Don't forget GOG also has update rollbacks.
>>
Valve are too far up their own ass these days.

They know best theyre the greatest gabe is god etc
>>
>>329937875
Its not GoG's fault that US copyright law has been extended to the point of absurdity, or that EA and Activision have been allowed to devour many beloved development studios that were subsequently ground up into a slurry of shit.
