If you want to downgrade you are out of kuck, you can run emulators and region free games with oot but you need an already 3ds with access to hbc to make the saves you need to use the oot exploit

Well that bites. I was thinking of upgrading to a n3ds soon but wasn't sure if I could transfer my account on top of running digital JP games and junk like patched US games. Might just keep it all separate for the sake of keeping my account stuff as safe as can be, but I don't know if it's just paranoia or not since ROMs or whatever the 3ds ones are called can apparently work online.

My advice for following that guide is that it says you can change holding LB to boot the menuhax to another button, but leave it as default so later in the guide you don't have to waste 10 minutes fixing th LB button so you can get Rxtools and Menuhax working at the same time, then just follow it to the letter and you will be playing games in like 4 hours of work.

If you get a n3DS, it'll be on 10.3 or under guaranteed so you just downgrade, upgrade EmuNAND to 10.6, then system transfer from your old one. You'll need to install JP patches via .cias since I don't think a JP eShop CIA would work properly on a US NNID, but that's about it.

last i recall, the chance of bricking isnt much different from downgrading to 9.2. Another way to fuck it up is if you have internet of on your n3ds since there isnt a slider. Otherwise, if you where smart enough to successfully downgrade your 3ds at all, you should be alright
