honestly, out of all platformers I've ever played in my whole life, Prinny is the hardest one by far. Prinny 2 is probably even harder.

I watched the speedrun of this game at the recent ADGQ and the guy literally one shotted EVERY BOSS, it does seem like a hard as fuck game and he probably practiced it a lot to be able to play it that well but jesus, that's kind of a shit game when you give the player the ability to one shot every enemy regardless of your level/equipment, etc.

It's insane, I just watched him own every boss without even taking damage. I'm not sure why that's considered "fun", also the game didn't really interest me. It's like a hard as fuck platforming game that only masochists would play, watching the speedrunner play it made me anxious.

He could only do that by mashing the attack button like a mad man. The faster you press,, the more attacks you can inflict. He also positioned himself at the right distance to hit them with both the knife slashes and the energy waves that come out of them.

Its a hard fight but its a very interesting one as well. For one, his attack pattern never changes so once you go through it enough, you'll learn when and where to attack. Another fun thing is the fight and the song playing last for three minutes. If you don't win by the time the song is finished, you die.

Really tight jumps, ground pound and spindash/incincibility frames being utilized in really cool ways, great bosses, lots of replay value, soundtrack, pre-budget cut voice acting, great checkpoint placements.

Screen doean't always show you enough (some jumps were leaps of faith and ever so occasionally some enemy you weren't aware of swoops in out of nowhere), the air slash thing needs to be a littlw easier to pull off without fucking destroying your thumbs.. i needed an hour and a bath to recover from sir sweet... lack of combat variety in bosses besides 3 butt stomps into thumb olympics, respawn times needed to about 1 seconds faster.

Ultimately prinny two improved on these in ways, but i'll always have hope for a third.
This game will always be in my top 5, no question.
