It has a pve server as well with decent population and a bit behind the schedule of the pvp server. Pvp server is unplayable with 9-12k people playing on prime time on a server made for 2.5k max.
As much as I want to, I can't play vanilla anymore. The macro system in vanilla is so shitty and limited, I got to level 50 before I couldn't take any more.
When did it get improved? BC? WotLK?

10,000 is exaggerated, it's not that many. Depends where you live as well. I live in the UK and have no trouble with lag at all.

Just go to the realm selection screen and look what it says under the realm types. PvE is Normal, PvP is a joke that went on far too long

10k is NOT exaggerated, it's the norm during peak (which is whenever night time is in China).
That said, the PvE server does much better with lag and especially with delay and draw distance, the latter of which is forcibly reduced by admins on the PvP server to handle the bloated population.
Not making a 2nd PvP server region-locked for Asia (Russians and Chinese) is really hurting Nost and it's only going to get worse in a year or so once their TBC server goes live.

Chinese really did overtake the pvp server. I never had a problem with it when playing, after I quit a month ago, but a lot of others did.
The best was a while ago when there was a bug with herb nodes, allowing you to continuously herb a single node for unlimited resources. Obviously many Chinese players and others exploited this bug, leading to a mass ban for multiple players. The forums the next few days were hilarious

But imagine Hellfire Peninsula with several thousand recently-transferred 60's in the opening weeks of the server, or just how many people in general are going to transfer as soon as they can.
Hopefully it'll clear up the classic sever, but the TBC one will just inherit all of the current population issues and in fact be even worse for the first few weeks/months.

Yes, the Chinese and the Russians do this. The Russians in particular crashed the server a few times to reset herb nodes and farm them that way, also resulting in bans.
And somehow Nost devs still don't see the problem with Chinese and Russian players.
