Article is old as shit but there's two important things you need to know before buying any gaming TV.

http://digthatbox.com/the_top_five_next_gen_gaming_tvs.html

>Input Lag
>Refresh Rate

These two are killers. Even TV's with "gaming modes" can still have game destroying input lag.

You can usually check the input lag of any TV by doing a google search for the model number and the words "Input lag"

Anything under 40ms is acceptable, but not great. 20ms range is very good. You won't get much better on a big screen TV.

Any 1080p, non-smart TV should be good. Check if it has the proper ports.
>>
Just get an Amazon Fire box and download remotr on it you scrub.

No. They're not. There are many modern TVs that have input lag over 40ms, and that's just unacceptable.

Thanks

How is remotr vs other streaming methods? Does it have less lag issues?
>>

No prob. Good luck.

Any Samsung LED tv will do. There is hardly any input lag with that brand.

pretty good setup ruined by weird lighting and terrible paintings
>>
>>329292353
Do you connect directly to it or stream to it?

I've heard a few bad things about streaming but if people have been able to do it without problems it might make my setup easier.

You don't like skeletons or Frosted Flakes?
>>
>>329292296
It's decent if you have good internet, and also very easy to set up.
Image quality could be better, but overall it's pretty good.

Check out this site. It's probably immensely helpful.

PC is on the left side.
>>
Samsung LEDs are one of the worst for input lag, go Sony or an the LG OLED, theoled has 37ms standard mode and 18 game mode
>>
I don't suppose there are any $200 models out there that are pretty good.

I'm fine with older stuff or refurbished.

I've heard of people who have a computer in one room and a computer next to their tv that they stream to and then directly connect that computer to the TV.

What are people's experience with this? In forums people have said it's better than streaming from the pc to tv if you're a room away but to me going from pc 1 to pc 2 and then tv also seems like it could create issues.

Streaming from my desktop to my atom tablet works fine for anything that doesn't need frame-perfect twitch response times. Connecting it to a tv just adds another layer of lag which again may or may not matter depending on the game.
>>
>>329294238
I don't see why you'd stream in that case and not just hook the TV up as another monitor.
>>
>>329294598
Might be okay for me. I don't play too many fighting games or fps's which I figure can be troubled by this.

where did you get it?

Looks like something Tom Wilson would do.
>>
>>329294913

I painted it.

Noice!
are you Tom?

It's beautiful anon. I like it.

Would you make me one if I paid you?
>>
>>329291807
Literally anything with 120+hz refresh rate, and a shitty streaming box / laptop to use in-home streaming, EZPZ
>>
>>329291807
a tv with full dynamic range, you dont need app shit because the computer will do all of that.

I have a PC that I use for work / games in my office but want to play some games in my living room with it.

I could hook up the TV as another monitor but then I'd either have to move my work computer to the living room (I'd rather keep my pc in my office) or move my living room setup to my office (don't have the space for that).

I couldn't find input lag for http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889624013

What do you think. Kinda worried because I never heard of Changhong before.

Do you regularly do cereal box paintings?

I'd be interested too.
>>
>>329296724

No, it's not a regular thing. It was a project for class.
>>
Is there a reason why people still buy 720p TVs?

I must add that I am a fan of ceral box art though.

Here's what you need to know, OP.

As others have said, input lag. No manufacturer really advertises this, they only advertise the refresh rate, which is usually the time it takes for a pixel to switch from gray to gray.

Also important, do not stream games to your tv, you need to hook it up as a second monitor, and tell steam big picture mode to switch to it when you start it up.

That's all.

I already have two monitors in my office for work so I guess I'd set my TV up as my third monitor?

Also my office is a room away from my living room where I'd plan to have the TV so I'll still have to figure out cord issues if I directly connect.

How are Vizio? I'm seeing a few of them in my price range.
