My dad loved wii tennis so much he bought grand slam tennis, and loved grand slam tennis so much he bought a ps3 and ps move just to play the sequel. He's beaten them many times over.
My dad had a huge collection of pirated Amiga games he'd play. He'd also code shit on the older systems where you had disks that were literally floppy. I'm sure he'd be playing all kinds of games if he'd gotten to experience the 00's and the explosion of 3D games.
My mom only ever played Bubble Pop or whatever it was called on the N64, and Zeus: Master of Olympus. I've ended up buying Zeus on various media just so I could install it on her new computers for her.

My dad used to play strategy games (mostly historical ones like Men of War, CoH, Total War or Stronghold series) but now he's a filthy casual who plays Candy Crush and other smartphone crap.
Halo and Xbox flavor of the months. Currently he's hooked on Rocket League, last it was ARK.

My dad and I used to play a ton of shit back in the day. During the PS2 era we played a fuckton of SOCOM, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, MGS, boxing games, etc.

My mother never played video games, but my father liked playing Mario Karthe 64 with me. He always picked Wario and almost never lost.

My parents play Mario Kart and donkey kong games (even returns, which they actually managed to beat). My mom also plays 2D Zelda games, and my dad used to play stuff like timesplitters with me when they were new.
Now it's just mario kart as far as I'm aware.
