But once indie games became a new scene you got tons of hipsters who are making a game or games to be cool, and then acting like pieces of shit on twitter because they are a Game Dev (of one or a couple shitty games nobody cares about).
Indie games used to be little studios making the games they wanted, and some are still like that. I've never met toady, but dwarf fortress is a fine little shrine to autism and fun.
As a side note, I wish the popular indie game type was still tower defense. I hate those sorts of games in general so I could just ignore most of the "me too" indie scene games. At some point roguelikes got popular with them which is the worst. I really like roguelikes and seeing all the lazy ugly poorly thought out """"""rogue""""""like""""""" games is really ruining a nice genre for me.
Maybe by now they've moved on to some new frontier of games that are cool now. Hopefully something worthless like hidden object games.
