I got to that point right after you make a character. Then I remembered that I'm depressed and that all video games are shit. So I quit.

I want to like this game. I really do. It just feels really boring to me for some reason. I'm level 26, and it feels like there's basically no progress.
I'm doing nothing but fighting bandits and wolves. Bandits and wolves. Day time, bandits half of the time, wolves a third of the time, and then goblins sometimes. Night time, wolves, wolves, wolves, wolves, more wolves, infinitely spawning wolves, and then some bandits. Every once in a while I hit a wandering undead, ogre or chimera which breaks up the monotony. Sometimes a dungeon where it's something a little bit more fun.
Then there's the character progression - it feels like there almost isn't any. Level up, and don't really feel any stronger, even after going back to learn new skills. Comparing gear is a bit of a pain in the ass considering not all stats are shown when looking at something new, and then you also have to upgrade it to actually really compare anything.
I'm going to keep playing to see if it gets any better since I'm only 15 or so hours in. This is still a very tedious early game though, if that's what it hopefully is. The pawn system is interesting at least, I do like that quite a bit.

Yeah, there's some DLC gear you can get early at Cassardis and some stuff you can get at Gran Soren. The shit you get in Cassardis is better than the outfits you get in GS imo. More customization, outfits take up all armor slots. Would use the outfits if they didn't look so goofy to me.

Seconding this. Not so much the fact that it's a tedious grind -- I've fought very little in terms of wolves and bandits -- but rather the fact that the game hasn't been all that interesting.
Everyone hyped it up with this whole, "compare melee/magic/ vs dark souls and skyrim!" shit but the combat is equally as bland. Just because it's a little flashier or allows for you to climb on an enemy doesn't make it intuitive or fun.
I did have an interesting encounter on my way to the Bandit Lair, when a chimera popped out from the treeline and bum rushed my group. Would have been an interesting battle had they not shoehorned this same fight in in the totally unnecessary tutorial level (seriously, WHY do games do this? Would have been perfectly fine starting at the beach.)
I just don't know, man. I was late to the party with Dark Souls and I fucking love that shit, so this game just seems so... I don't know... generic and a step back from what I want from video games?

This game is odd. The bandits directly before the Witchwood entrance have guys among them who can kill me in 2-3 hits, but everything in Witchwood itself is piss easy. I spent less time exploring the woods than I did reloading because of bandits instakilling all three pawns and bumrushing me.

It's should be in your storage if you hit Gran Soren. If you accidentally sold it, tough bananas to you. Start over again in hard mode, and then downgrade to normal mode so you can keep the same character design.

At the moment the pawn renting is bugged, you can't see if your pawn's been hired by anyone and any gift that you might give to pawns will disappear completely. Unless you've made it far into the game you can see how knowledgeable your pawn is against 'unfamiliar foes' somewhere in its stats tab. Unless you've killed a variety of monsters with your pawn by your side it'll have obtained knowledge of rarer monsters from other players.

I didn't like the Witchwood because the flying ghost assholes kept fucking possessing me, I couldn't deal any damage to them because lel greatsword only, and my pawns dealt fuck all in terms of damage whilst refusing to give me elemental buffs.
So I ran around and found a route that basically allowed me to skip the entire area by sticking to the mountains and falling down directly in front of the witch's house. There were some chests with useless shit up there, too.

Your pawns are only able to hit an enemy well if they have the appropriate knowledge of it. If they're not 3-starred on it, which they probably won't be, they're not smart enough to go for the weak points.

You don't create a party, you create a follower.
You can then hire two other people's followers.

Play sorc for the whole game, Then swap to MA when you've farmed the last boss several times over. NOTE: Doing it this way will not actually allow you to PLAY the game as a Magick Archer, since there will be nothing left to do. It WILL give you the highest MA damage output however.
Alternatively, level from 10-100 as sorc and then go MA. Stat gains are lower after level 100 anyway.
My advice? Just play whatever you want, minmaxing is for aughtists.

You create your main character (The Arisen)
Then you get to create a 'pawn' as a follower.
Your pawn will follow you for the entire game, and you can hire up to two other pawns at a time, and switch them whenever you want.
If you go online you can hire other peoples pawns

Sorc gets better the more time you put into it, with the casting augments and the Wyrmking ring you can nuke the fucking world. You go from slow channeling piss ass damage man, to Moderately slow channeling I'm going to nuke the world man.
