Stats are mostly irrelevant, yes, but Augments are not.
You'll want a good number of Augments from Warrior (mostly Clout at rank 9) and Sorcerer (for casting speeds and debilitation damage ((the latter might be a Mage Augment.))) You'll also want Sinew, which is a rank 5 Fighter Augment, so that you can kiss worrying about carry weight goodbye.
There are ways of cheesing vocation ranks later in the game, so don't worry about it too much if you just want to play MA and enjoy yourself.
