I'm playing hoshido first and I'm liking it a lot better than awakening.
And Rinka is nowhere near as useless as people say. She's one of the few, as well as argueablly the best tank you have for the first few chapters, as well as the only axe/club user until chapter 15 if you don't second seal. More importantly, she's the only hammer user until chapter 13, which will make killing those strong as fuck generals a lot easier since your mages are shit.

XCOM 2 has DA GRAPHIX and CINEMATIC MINICUTSCENES but I still can't tell if it's going to be any deeper than EU/EW, particularly compared to half-decent throwbacks like Xenonauts.
Meanwhile everything I've seen of the gameplay in if/Fates looks more interesting than Awakening, and since Awakening was worth every penny it's a guaranteed day one purchase for me.

I originally said that the way that the dark mages in Plegia are dressed sort of makes sense due to where they are from. To which you responded that it must have to do with dark magic and skimpier clothing being associated for a long time. In context of the series this isn't the case, and that's where problem is. You've moving the goalposts from it being a long standing trope which wasn't the case in this series to cultures and times changing to reflect something that hasn't been established here.
