If you're at endgame, there's pretty much nothing to do.

Playerbase is terrible. It doesn't reward proficient play outside of endgame which mandates it or you instant wipe.

I'm enjoying it alright. It's a bit lacking in the end game department, but since I'm still rather new, I still have plenty of stuff to distract me with.

Yeah I actually skipped out on savage Melusine because I was burned out from 6/8/9 and FC drama. By the time I went to it Final Coil was a week away so we just dropped it at like 20%.
There were a couple things that are maybe a bit too punishing/random (swarm can RNG fuck you, some of the tower timings are a little extreme, etc) but savage 6 and 8 are a couple of my favorite fights and savage 9 was a crazy nail biter.

It's just not a game with fun mechanics. Very slow, very static push-button type stuff. It's not engaging or entertaining, there's very little to master about the gameplay, there's nothing to customize about your character's stats and mechanics, and it just doesn't keep you enthralled the way a good game should. Just look at the new Relic weapons, they require doing old dungeon content and FATEs and all that, and sure enough the first thing people do is bitch about it. They bitch about actually having to play the game. If it were really and truly fun, that sort of thing wouldn't happen.

Savage T9 was primarily a healer check. Bunch of VIT melds on everyone for safety reasons because fuuuuuuck keeping people alive during second meteor set if you keep getting targeted as the healer.
Everything else in that fight is rather managable.
Personally, because it differs in core aspects to FFXI and I wanted something like FFXI. Maybe less grindy.

I mostly find this is the case in WoW-like/themepark MMOs. I recently played Runescape for the first time and people went out of their way to talk to new players and help them, it was the weirdest experience after playing WoW and FFXIV for the last who knows how many years.

in my experience, it wasn't that they never talked, it was that the people who talked are so closely knitted that they talked outside the game/in their own private linkshells/in voice chats (WHICH IS TERRIBLE IF YOU'RE NOT A NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER)

AST is fine in my opinion. I've only cleared up to A3S and haven't stepped in to A4S yet, but as a WHM main, I don't mind healing alongside a SCH or an AST.

They don't ask why players unsub when they do, they don't poll currently subbed players about their feelings on the game, they almost never respond to forum posts on issues with the game's design/mechanics. How arduous are the new Relics without raiding?
I'm almost cleared with 3.0, I only do the story when I can play with a friend who can't play that often... so I'll probably be trying to farm Relic Weapons on various classes.
Also, which DPS class should I level after I get WAR done? PLD and DRK are at 60, thinking about taking a break from the healers.

The longer I've been away the more I'm starting to think that regretting it is the worst thing you can do. Remember the good times, and little by little you gotta move on. It isn't going to be easy--I still think about them often--but it'll slowly get better. Dwelling on it will just make you feel horrible.

It's not worth it, get good and get your Thordan weapon, with any luck you'll be able to get a 210 weapon from 3.2's outset.
As far as dps goes you can just pick a melee, the differences between them are fairly superficial and tanks are essentially melee with defensive cds instead of offensive and no positional attacks.

I liked it until 3.0 endgame. I saw all that grind for crafting/gathering and the new relic weapons and refused to participate in it. I finished Excalibur and killed Bahamut while it mattered, I'm satisfied. Call me if endgame ever becomes different or interesting.

Jeeze, lots of reasons. People in game actually play it, rather than just shitpost. People in game would, you'd think, defend the game they're spending their time in. They don't, though, because none of them want to do dungeons or FATEs because the game is ultimately boring. You wouldn't see this happening if FFXIV was an engaging experience, but the nature of the gameplay ensures it isn't.
