The original GH series is kind of like an episode of Behind the Music: band starts out humble and small, rises to mega stardom, changes its gimmick to stay relevant, gets backlash from overexposure, people abandon it for rap (or DJ, in this case), the band gets back together one last time and finishes really strong.

GH3 was a long time ago, before they realized that the songs were being "cracked" and the "masters" were being uploaded.
Rocksmith doesn't use masters because it doesn't need them. It just has (usually) the radio version of the song. The separate instrument tracks are not needed, because all it has to do is play YOUR guitar/rhythym/bass sound over the song.

That's exactly what the problem is with Raining Blood on GH in comparison to guitar. I won't invest a lot of time into explaining this but look at the Raining Blood tab, the riff where the tempo increases

If your hand was positioned on a fret board, you'd play pinky, middle finger, index finger, then take your hand off the fret and play an open note, slide over one fret, and do the same thing over and over.
Whereas GH Raining Blood has something like

Most people will play this pinky finger, ring finger, middle finger, index finger and have you constantly moving back and forth. Since there are no open notes in Guitar Hero unless you're playing the bass post-World Tour, you can never find comfortable positioning.
Honestly a lot of the charting for GH songs is done relatively well in comparison to what it would be like on an actual guitar, but others are just skullfuckery that require you to forget a lot of your knowledge.

I actually bought Smash Hits yesterday, it was the last Guitar Hero that wasn't hot trash after 3. I've been playing a lot of RB3 lately too. 5 starred every Rush song on Expert drums available for RB3 along with Constant Motion/On the Backs of Angels (about 300k on both of them)

I'm still salty about the Megadeth DLC for Rock Band. I get that Rust in Peace and Peace Sells are Megadeth's most popular albums, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

They'd hinted in 2007 that Nevermind was going to be a full album download, but I guess something went wrong and they couldn't get SLTS, Lithium, and Come as You Are for whatever reason. That's why it's just Nevermind album tracks.
They put in About a Girl and You Know You're Right later, which was cool. I was excited and surprised that they put in School, since I'd been wanting that one forever. Never thought they'd actually do it.

Live's doing okay. RB4 is doing surprisingly great.
DLC is actually what killed the game.
Like, they would release songs as DLC and then release the next game and it would have the same songs that were just released as DLC. It's aggravating to keep having to play the same songs.
