Let's talk about this game. I started playing it for the first time yesterday and I don't think it's so bad.
>>
>>323680480
It gets boring pretty fast.

This is the one game that demonstrates what's wrong with all the open-world hype meme nowadays. Together with Far Cry 3 + 4. Although Far Cry 3 had a waayy better story.
>>
>>323680480
It's okay for like 30 or so hours. After that, you notice how limited it really is. Each dungeon and side quest is basically copy pasted. The world is also boring. Not a horrible game, just boring and repetitive after a few days.
>>
Terrible, shit repetitive gameplay, bland atmosphere, every questline is a series of platitudes, shitty armor and items, full retard lore and dialogue
Literally a redundant game

It's not that bad. Edgy faggot just hate it because it's popular or they're total fucking weebs. They're the people on v that don't understand the concept of "fun". It's nowhere near perfect and can get boring, but if you're not a total narcissistic douchebag you should have fun for at least one playthrough.

>>
>>323681826
What?
>>
I did get like 80 hours out of it, it's pretty good but once you get bored of it you never want to play it again, by which I mean that I don't think I'll feel nostalgic about it in 10 years.
>>
>>323682161
>now that FO4's out

Is there a dragon mod for that?
>>

Imperials.

Read the Thalmor Dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak. He is an asset to the elven kikes

I kinda agree with this post. For some reason Oblivion is praised a lot on /v/ but I found it mediocre after playing Morrowind first and thought Skyrim succeeded better in what Oblivion was trying to do.
>>
>>323683739
It even said he helped out the Thalmor. They were going to release him at Helgen before Alduin showed up according to unused dialogue

Read the dossier liberal trash
>>
Because at least skyrim has SOME RPG elements in it.
>>
>>323683787
>For some reason Oblivion is praised a lot on /v/
It didn't used to be this way. I remember back when Oblivionbabbies were laughed out of TES threads isntantly. But the current generation of /v/posters started TES with Oblivion so they don't understand what's wrong with it. That game was their portal into TES and, because they played it when they were really young, they don't remember the copious amounts of flaws from the game.
>>
>>323680480
Skyrim isn't a bad game at all. Most people on /v/ just don't understand the concept of middle ground.

Skyrim is a decent game. It's not great, but it's still pretty good for what it is. Morrowind was better, but Morrowind had a shit load of its own issues too.
>>
>>323683947
Well, that's understandable. I guess I'm starting to get too old for 4chan.

its fun at first because it all seems so new and nice. after a good 30 hours you start noticing how repetitive it gets. You notice how shitty the level scaling is. You notice how there are only like 5 classes of enemies. You notice how the long you play the more the game starts to break.
>>
>>323684306
>the more the game starts to break.
But that's always been the best part of Elder Scrolls games.
>>
>>323684552
Depends, the paintbrush and duplication were fun but not when a NPC disappears and occasions when you cant complete quests

Also Hadvar follwing me was awful
>>
I've sunk a couple hu dried hours intothis game, but 800+ into Oblivion over the years. SKyrim has an amazing presentation but on a gameplay level its baby's first RPG. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm a little disappointed the game isn't as deep as it is pretty.
>>
I played 500+ hours and I still find new things in this game. Only retarded people get bored playing skyrim
>>
>>323680480
What I really liked about skyrim was that it was a very immersive experience. After a few mods to improve some gameplay and graphical things, its a ton of fun. I prefer Oblivion and Morrowind, but Skyrim is still good.

Just dont go into it expecting the same Elder Scrolls package. Skyrim is its own thing
>>
I play these games as "immersive fantasy world simulators", and all three modern TES games are great for that. Especially if you get a journal mod and start writing shit down.
>>
>>323685269
as autistic as that is i can see how that improves the game experience for some by shitton

may actually replay oblivion with that, i tried replaying it earlier but it was just blend and boring
>>
>>323680480
I put 300 hours at least in every main ES title, skyrim was no exception. Finally tried fallout with 4 and that is limited. Might try 3 some day but I dont know about the wasteland.

Skyrim is "fun" because its a first person action game. Its terrible because it doesnt care about being an RPG. Just a massive game with tons of shit to do.
>>
>>323685520
It makes it better when playing the game if you really like roleplaying, but aside from that, it also creates great memories later on. I wrote that down over a year ago and completely forgot.

Reading my journal now brings back a ton of nostalgic memories of my adventures.
>>
>>323685269
Same my guy, if I didnt multiple playthroughs would be boring as shit.

I'm usually a generic hero first time then I go for either an outcast like an orc or a thief. Then maybe an archere or paladin. Mage is usually last ha
>>
>>323685649
Also I enjoy writing and it's a good outlet that allows me to write frequently.
>>
>>323681482
Imperial, but just because every time I went to join the Stormcloaks they kept talking about sacking Whiterun.

Though I did join them once. Unfortunately I couldn't complete the first quest because the place I had to go to kept crashing.
>>
make sure to mod it a lot, with the right mods the magic can be made pretty good, the vampire, werewolf stuff can be improved a lot as well
>>
>>323680480
It ain't bad, but it becomes repetitve, epecially the dungeons.

I never used illusion before so I didn't realize it was broken too. It's annoying because I do like a lot of things about the game - the designers just had no concern for balance, and there are all these ways you can accidentally overpower your character without setting arbitrary limits on yourself.

You don't even need invisibility for sneak to break the game. Sneak is the most infamously unbalanced skill in the series, why do you think everyone makes the stealth archer jokes?

Breaking the combat is the only thing interesting about it anyways.

No, Fallout 4 does it better. At least in Skyrim there was more than two towns, and each one had at least some twist to distinguish it from the others. Everything in FO4 is boring and samey.
>>
its good while the magical immersion lasts

it is definitely weaker than oblivion in terms of interesting quests

that fucking cube quest in skyrim had so much potential but fell flat - just like most quest lines in it.

I imagine with immersive / survival mods skyrim is really good? idk

but shit most people who say the game is utter trash have 100+ hours on it. Which is just ridiculous really.

It's strange how people automatically sympathize with rebels no matter what the situation is.

The British empire was an objective force for good in the world. As was the Roman Empire.

>>
Fuck man I want to like this game, I really do, but Bethesda is just so shit at making games it takes away any and all enjoyment.

>Get amazing new weapon
>Wreck shit with it in tomb
>Draugr boss uses a disarm shout
>Fucking weapon glitches through floor and is gone forever
>Last save 1 hour ago

>Play conjuration mage
>Literally have an army of undead followers and atronarchs plus companion
>Always stand at the back of the batle shooting spells
>Powerful enemies target you EVERY fucking time despite getting wailed on by a legion of goons

>Need to fight boss for quest #7578575
>Boss is glitched into wall and can't be injured
>OR item needed to complete quests glitches into oblivion
>Can never complete quest now

It's just that the minor bugs and glitches get so frustrating and annoying that it makes me not want to suffer through the same boring dungeons over and over to complete. It's like the game doesn't WANT me to play it or have fun.
>>
>>323680665
>Each dungeon and side quest is basically copy pasted
Kinda. The designers did a good job making them look differently, but it's always just
>get quest; it sends you to a dungeon
>finish dungeon
>fight boss
>get a chest full of scaled loot, occasionally learn a new dragon word
>use a secret tunnel that conveniently leads you to the entrance
>finish quest
over and over again. After a while people start downloading mods en masse to vary things a bit.

On the other hand, when I play Morrowind, I consider it a better game, but start missing things Oblivion and Skyrim introduced.

I've started playing Arena, but don't like how monsters teleport directly behind my back. I got out of the starting dungeon, somehow died and didn't feel like playing anymore. Might try out Daggerfall.
>>
>>323680480
i started again (3rd) time a bit before christmas but sort of forgot about it because of christmas and a holidaytrip so thanks for reminding me. anyways back to topic.
the game isn't terrible but it's really repetitive, i've gotten around 75% through the main quest (roughly and i did other stuff too) but it was always the same. go to dungeon, kill draugrs, then comes the big bad draugr who gets more and more powerful as the game goes on. i'm guessing you should just keep on playing, but pace yourself, take a few breaks and so on. that way it prolly is possible to play the whole game through.
tl;dr the game isn't absolutely trash but it's nothing great either, pretty mediocre in every way
>>
>>323690896
As long as the main quest remains hand crafted, everything else can be random. It's a dungeon crawler after all. Daggerfalls maze-like dungeons were perfect for that.

Skyrim is a simulation of WWII with Imperials being the allies and Thalmor the elite jews, dark elves the oppressed gassed kikes and Nords the germans.
Ulfric is Hitler, he doesn't discriminate other races but he awknoledges that Skyrim does indeed belong to the nords the same way Hitler said Germany belonged to the real german and not the exploiting kike.
Bethesda even made Imperials and Thalmor banish the worshiping of Talos just like Germans were forced not to adhere to nationalism or worshiping of Hitler after WWII.

Skyrim belongs to the nords.

I go back to it every so often with mods and all of that, and it's all good fun. Sure, there are things mods can't fix, but it doesn't really matter all that much. 800 hours over the years during my episodes of it, and I can say it's still worth the money more than most games being released now.
Also, Morrowind isn't as good as /v/ thinks it is. The strongest point is the world and travel options are the best in just about any game, but the combat is shit, the leveling is okay, but not great, the graphics didn't age well, and animations are garbage. Though to be fair, Skyrim has shitty animation too, compared to the 2011 examples of animation.

But there are plenty of elements Morrowind had that base Skyrim didnt, but hey, mods fixed pretty much all of it.

farcry blood dragon was the fucking best for me

it's open world done right

a small world, filled with little things and trivia and quotes and weird caves and all sorts of settlements and vantage points that let you fight the way you want and basically own everybody. The progression is fun and you can't wait to unlock all the gun upgrades and new skills.

the problem is not open world per se, it's that they make the worlds so big that they don't have anything to fill them up with. No one wants to just walk forward 5 kilometers to find the next thing to do or experience just because "oh my god the map is bigger than gta!!!!!"

Just make the map fit with the amount of content you have and the world will feel big without even thinking about it.
