Cyberpunk cyberspace is significantly advanced than modern internet, though. It typically involves

-the internet of things
-uploading your brain online
-internet through VR

We're kind of getting there but we're still anywhere from 20 to 50 years from all three.

Gibson is a real artist, an actual literary figure that will be remembered long after his death in the same way as Dickens or Hemmingway.

Effinger, on the other hand, makes up for his limited Literary skill with a boundless supply of Charisma that is rarely found in a work of literature. and that is more what most Cyberpunk books are like. Ergo, while Gibson is the genre's greatest accomplishment, Effinger is the closest personification

because william gibson got fucking dicked by it when he went to see it (in the middle of writing neuromancer) and he basically re-wrote the whole book because it was so stylistically similar to what he was trying to achieve in the first place.

I wonder what the future workplace will look like. A lot of people were once optimistic about young people being computer-savvy, as we might have more proficient programmers and such. I don't know if this is the case anymore - people get labeled as "tech-savvy" even though they just use their phone all day - they couldn't write a program for shit.

In other words, we have an older generation who thinks kids are tech-savvy, when it turns out that these kids might barely be able to use a computer as they get older.

I was planning on making an Arpg that is cyber-punk esque

but it takes place very very far after the extinction of humanity, and a slave-race of aliens have migrated to earth to eventually settle a civilization there

They eventually discover the ancient human race and worship them as gods, for they accomplished so much without the assistance of other races on a stranded planet.

They base all their civilization and culture on the remnants of human history that was available.

The player is a human corpse resurrected by a CEO or something capable of technologically doing that, through a robot body or something I don't know.

I haven't really made a story for it yet, just a ideas guy thing of mine.

Well, I've only read the book, and hear that the movie misses the point. People still debate whether Heinlein is writing sarcastically or not.

Heinlein was in the military, though, and did have some pro-military sentiments. But, did they go as far as what he writes in the book - especially since a lot of it has this somewhat sarcastic tone? That's what people debate.
