Both Vinny and Joel are emailed with game suggestions for streams, and they have done it for many other games in the past.
Undertale was suggested as a game, and Joel did it. He knew fuck all about the game other than that it was being suggested a lot, so he streamed it.

He was told in the emails to not kill anybody, and barely paid attention to chat outside of a few moments.
Also, he only ever streamed it once. First was the normal route, and then he took a break before doing the Genocide route, which is basically a completely different game.

years ago people used to make up fake streams to troll vinny and make him laugh, SoySauce Vidya, FruityJuice Gaming, etc. Capicoli is an italian food, so I think someone told him there was a streamer named Capicoli that hated him and he laughed about it and thought it was a fake streamer.
