The feel the PS3 is different from the PS2 but he will have more fun with that than with the ps4, besides some titles will still be launched for the ps3, like Persona 5 and Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator.

Well I was just thinking of the digital library, I mean like if he gets a fat ps3 he can run his old PS2 games and then there's the digital library.
Four is backwards compatible with the 3 and their going to stop making games for it.
PS2 had a fuckton of good games somehow I just can't really think of many from PS3 that were really worth the cost of the console with PS4 already out they added in a PS3 emulator as a second thought like new games probably won't be coming out for it for very long it's already hit its shelf life for the most part.

The only real reason to get PS3 is the MGS Legacy Collection, as in have the WHOLE series on a single system, most in glorious HD.
After that, the numerous JRPGs.
