Why did they call it Rakuyo and connect it to not Japan? His is obviously a sabre.

are you trying to say that the japanese didn't have sabers? that they didn't fight from horseback?

They didn't have European sabres, no. I'm not sure if they had a jap equivalent but I'm pretty sure cavalry used bows and spears.

the middle east didn't have European sabers, but they still developed their own sabers. it's not inconceivable for a different culture to develop an item similar to what is in another one. it happens all the time.

They traded with the Dutch for 100s of years though, I'm pretty sure they did had one or two European sabres at some point.
Military swords adopted European design traits by the Victorean era, which is the timeframe where the game takes place. In the game, the nobles in Cainhurst were fascinated by the katanas from Not-Japan (probably introduced by Yamamura) the same way Ser Alonne was in DaS2.
Japan does not exist in the DS / BB universe. It's a fantasy universe. Just because there's semi-Jap inspired shit coming from "A faraway eastern land" doesn't mean it's japan.

I believe I clearly called it 'not Japan.'

>as a weaboo I know more about japan than japanese developers

Okay, well "not japan" doesn't need to have identical art and technology to real japan.
Yarnham is clearly a fantasy imagining of London circa the turn of the Industrial Revolution, and english people in the 1800's didnt run around with tesla coil maces and bic lighter boomhammers
