To be honest Doom 3 aged less than Quake 4. The latter had too much non-FPS gameplay that was popular at the time, but not really in the long run.

Nope, nope nope. Doom is infinitely replayable thanks to the mod communuity and Quake 1 still has some of the best atmosphere in any game.
I'm truly bewildered that there isn't a single game that even tries to feel like Quake 1. That gothic metal hellscape is so good for a shooter, the Strogg can't compare.
