I've only played SMT IV, and seen bits of the other games on Youtube. For me, Persona is a bit too "cutesy" for me, while I prefer mainline SMT's darker tone. Lots of people apparently like Persona 3 and 4, so I'm sure they're well made games, but they're just not my cup of tea.
