You are not forced to play online to increase HR, you need to do Guild (Called Gathering Hall in 4U) Quests which are scaled for multiplayer but they are completely doable solo if you are decently well equipped for the rank and you know the monster. Anyway I suggest doing most, if not all, of the caravan singleplayer content first.

Well you can only keep getting better. Different monsters have different attacks and until you know what those attacks are and how to handle them it can be a bit rough. Just stick with it, keep making new weapons and armor. Since you're new I'd recommend sticking with full armor sets as skills in this game only activate when they have enough points in them, which most full sets provide in spades.

Truthfuly, just upgrade the hammer/make new weapons, and upgrade or make new armor. It's a fairly simple solution.
In terms of actually fighting things, just use one or two fights as a training experience, learning the monster's attacks and movements. After taking a bit to learn how they operate, you'll be good enough to figure out which attack they'll do, and how to dodge/counter it.
Reminder that GS is the king and only weapon worth using. HBG and IG can rarely fulfill a niche.

I like shield weapons the most. Favorite weapon ever in MH for me has always been lance. So having a shield is a + for me right there. and being able to turn into a hammer like weapon was just interesting enough to keep me in.

Anyone got any cool sets they'd like to share? I just made a bow set with the Enraged Dalamadur and full Lagi X amor that has:

For those of you who aren't familiar with this bow, it has 372 raw, 170 blast with awaken, 3 slots, and gives you +45 defense. Lv 1 spread 3, lv 2 is spread 4, lv 3 is pierce 5, and it has a natural lv 4 charge with rapid 5. The only problem is that it can't use power coat normally, but it has every other coat bar blast(but who cares, it's a blast bow) with a coating boost to para.
Very strong bow overall. It's definitely up there with the Steve, Molten Tigrex, and Akantor bows.
Can someone exain skill points in 4U? New to the series, and they do a pretty shit job of explaining that

Certain abilities require a certain number of skill points to activate, with many abilities having multiple tiers, sometimes even for negative skill points. It is a general rule that more points a skill is better, while any negative ability should be gemmed away with a skill gem that makes the negative skill point just high enough that it doesn't trigger the negative ability.

To activate a skill it needs at least 10 points (or -10 points). Some skills have additional levels at 15 and 20 points. If you do not have at least 10 points, these skills will do nothing.

Each skill needs at least 10 points in ether positive or negative to activate. Positive points make good abilities, while negative ones are bad.
Take my bow set for example. Say I have 10 points into bombardier and -10 into status. If I removed a +2 bombardier gem and replaced it with a +1 disabler gem, I have 8 points intp bombardier and -9 points into status. I don't have bombardier, but I don't have status down anymore.
Also, certain skills like attack have different tiers in both directions. Attack has levels at 10, 15, 20, and 25 points, while also having the same levels on the negative side.
Aerial LBG is pretty interesting. It's probably the only time you will ever use normal 1 on a monster

Exactly by what metric does the MonHun community judge a weapon to be good or bad?
Specifically, how do they judge a weapon to be overpowered?
I mean, the game is strictly PvE. unless the weapon in question is literally a giant red button that instantly causes the monster to have a heart attack, at the end of the day, who's going to complain about an overpowered weapon? The monster?

Has the basics with Focus, Rapid Up, and Weakness Exploit and provides good support, especially with Para boost. Seems to have a jack-of-all-trades thing going on but is ultimately outclassed in its individual purposes by other bows. If you're moving through G rank it's perfectly fine but you'll want to move on to something that'll last you into the endgame eventually.

If there is one thing I can say positive about the Outraged mechanic, at least it gives monsters some new patterns. Outraged Tigrex in particular has a specific combo that ends in a turn-around boulder push it does regardless of if the part is infected. It also baits with the fake-out charge much more often

It's literally the third strongest bow in the game anon. I have a molten tigrex set and I don't like Kama because it one dimensional as fuck.

The entire reason the weapon is so godly is because of the fact that it doesn't need S+1 or Razor to maintain that giant white, and Bounding at white has roughly the same DPS output of Hellruin at purple. With the lack of S+1 and Razor you can make sets you would not be able to make with Hellruin like AuXL, Challenger+2, Weakness Exploit, HG Earplugs and Tremor Resist. Sorry for the autism, I just want people to understand what makes Bounding so special.

Higher level skills are usually better than lower ones, so I'd focus on 3 or so skills at max instead of a smorgasbord.

Maybe if you only look at the number it has for attack power. It lacks power shot which is a huge deal for bows, and Pierce does not work as well for them as it does for HBGs.

Status is always welcome. Blast is great for breaking parts while doubling as fixed damage. Exhaust boosted coatings have neat KO's on the side too.
If I wanted to spam vanilla normal ranged attacks, I would use the Livid Griscannon. And even then I would much rather cut my time in half with Destiny's Arm.
