I think "games that people enjoy without having the background to fully appreciate them." Sort of like saying Citizen Kane is your favorite movie or Ulysses is your favorite book -- it suggests that maybe you just latched onto the most popular, praised work in the genre as a whole without exploring the more niche contributions to the genre that would allow you to appreciate this list more.
